Suwannee River Icebreaker BBQ March 5 - 8 - 2015

I'm sure we'll all be sick of cold weather by March so a BBQ is in order :D. All the boaters (Sledheads ) from Wisconsin , Ohio , Michigan , Illinois etc , come on down . This is will be a good time and not too cold or too hot so come visit one of natures treasures the Suwannee River :thumbsup:. See you there for a big BBQ . Time to ride the river and burn up ALL the firewood .

Local hotels are as follows with the Days Inn in Chiefland with lots of boat parking and right next to BBQ Bills for breakfast . Best Western also in Chiefland just south of Holiday Inn . Then the Cadillac an old school mom and pop place with good parking just south of the bridge . Then the Park Inn right across from the Cadillac , another smaller mom and pop motel , then the Suwanee Gables just over the bridge across the river on the right on the water with a boat ramp .

They don't shower in Dixie county !!!!! So when in Rome ..... But if u do wear ur flip flops god only knows last time those showers were cleaned .... I made the mistake of Walkn on the floor in my socks and they stuck to the carpet :)

Yea the water in the shower stinks so bad!!! But they still get my money every time. I just like it there. Its a classic North Florida Motel. Makes me feel good to be a little white trash and forget about all the corporate work BS... There is no red tape at the Gables, anything goes.

My wife has a favorite moment from the Cadillac Inn last November..... She was in the shower and I left the door cracked open while I was getting the boat ready and the Indian man walked in to see her butt naked!!!! She is still pissed but I'm sure he's not! Good deal ! You should plan for 70 miles each day if you want to make the full run . You can certainly go to other ramps and save some water driving time but it's all about the ride ! Merry Christmas !

Went out today to do some shake down on the Hydrostream ran down to jacks sand bar it had about 4 to 5 feet over it so if the water level stays won't have to worry about anyone hitting it :nonod: but there was a ton of floaters out I managed to wack one of course :( at about 60 but no damage but it was nice out 77 and a little breezey but still nice. the first two pics I am over jacks

And on a side note Tom I need. To get up with you about building I custome tank for the allison

No problem Vinnie just get me some dimensions . River is high and going up (see link ) but we still have four weeks . no real chance for flood stage I don't think but it twill probably be a little high . Once it starts going down floating debris should slow up .

FYI.. just crossed the river - water is up and good possibility of cold and rain... Can I get a petition to change to March 12-15.. that would be 6 weeks from Punxsutawney Phil's prediction of 6 more weeks of winter :-) Extended forecast says about 20 degrees warmer the following weekend.. can't blame a girl for trying!

Still in a holding pattern , BBQ will go on as it would if it rained or snowed ! River is supposed to be receding some according to NOAA . Still time , I'm going out no matter what . Rock Bluff will be flooded and over the seawall there . Best bet is go all the way to the Santa Fe and find a spot . River is coming down slowly but it will not be like summer time . :thumbsup:

most of us put in at fanning springs... no worries bout bridges or water youll be ok... we ride up to the sante fe split its bout 34-37 miles i believe one way

Also, Tom I may need your model boat driving skills. I was sent this a while ago for evaluation and to shoot photos of it, but I never had the chance yet. It's brushless and supposed to go 40-50 MPH with the Li-Po battery they sent me. This thing is small so it will probably be nuts at those speeds so I need some skillful driving so I can shoot photos. Anyone that wants to drive it, go at it - I just need my photos :)

Thank you Tom and Gina, and another big thank you to Mark and Janna. What an awesome ride that was. I haven't been in a V-King in a very long time and Mark and Janna's V-King is bad to the bone. That ride was just so much fun. I haven't been out on a Stream in a long time and it was so happy I think that I was really goofy acting; it's like I was a teenager all over again. I realized how much I really loved riding in a Stream. Just so awesome. And of course Mark and Janna are as cool as it gets. What an incredible ride, and Janna got amazing photos too! I also want to thank Mark and Janna for the Power Tour book - my favorite of all. I have it right on my desk now, among my other Power Tour photo books. Looking at photos on the computer is always awesome but seeing them in print is just something cooler. Janna is absolutely an incredible photographer.

It was great seeing you all there, and I'm sorry I could not stay for the Saturday night bonfire at Tom and Gina's. I wanted to, but really needed to get back here. I hope I'll see most of you at the River Ranch next month.

I'll be posting some photos and of course there will be a gallery section as well. That river run was amazing. :D :D
