The only thing is I don't think it is the right year the water inlets look like the older models, along with the pinion bearing bolt, newer ones use circlips, Gary may know more then me? Nice case though.

It's possible that the case was changed on this motor at some point...the motor is a 99' but case may not be. It should work for someone out there it's still in great shape.

Great catch Matt.
If it has the two carrier bolts visible just behind the thrust washer you're good to go.
The newer unit came out in '93 and the new style water p/u was later. I think '97/'98??

Michael, they did change drive shaft lengths from old to new though in case you weren't aware.
A case off a '99 225 will fit any 200 and up, 3.0 or 3.3 liter from 93' and up. This should have the 2 pc drive shaft too so by switching the upper shaft it will bolt on a '92 and prior.

Factory went back to the bolt for holding the pinion bearing as the c-clip did not hold like they thought they would. They also used that water pick up past 92 on non ocean version engines.

Does anyone know if I can install this on a 1993 Johnson 175 60 degree ocean pro outboard with a 25" shaft? If it will bolt up, I'll take it. My current lower unit has a 1 piece driveshaft, so I also need a 25" driveshaft. Thanks, Paul

Paul,
I also have 25" gearcase from a 60* 175 here at the shop just need to check it out and make sure all is ok with it. It will certainly bolt up with no issues since it's from the same motor you have now. I'll try to check it out this week and get back with you . Shop number here is 803-897-3806
