we sawped an old 235 to a lopper the drive shaft is 1/2 to short so we got a lopper drive shaft . after ringing that one . that was the only problem we had . as far as electrionc you could try and figur out a way to mount them . the fireing order is the same . the one thing i can rember is that a cross flow the low speed timing is higher than a lopper . dont hold me to that .but i am pretty sure . last summer we had a customer that had to have it right then . and all we had was a cross flow timer base . we could not get it to ideal low enuff to get in gear . the other was we had to swap the plug ins around on the timer base . hope this helps

Mike, the timer is different as the looper is even fired and a x-flow is odd firing. The loopers 86 to 91 had the same length drive shaft as the old 235 the 92 on different

Bolt pattern is the same so it will physically attach but the exhaust and water passages in the adapter will be wrong. I haven't done it but I suppose you could swap a 235 adapter, tuner and can into the outer housing from a looper.
Shift, throttle and electrics for the remote control rigging should interchange.

Thanks Barry I figured that's what Racer meant.

are the same . the diff is in the power head adapter is 1/2 taller i have made this change 2 or more times . no sure about the firing order but i know that u can put a cross flow fly wheel on an lopper with no changes but getting the crank cut to fit so in my way of thinking the firing order must be the same one the one we put toghter . orwe did some thing wrong because it runs really hard and on problms at all . the old flex fly wheel . year got no idea . eather way was a peace togehter motor . but we allways put stuff toghter that nobody said would work . and worked fine

are you making now, if you have a complete 83 235 powerhead and a 89 loop center and gearcase what you need is a complete 235 adaptor assy and a shift shaft. The drive shaft in 89 loop would be correct for the 83 crossflow. The only mod would be to drill out the 2 exh relief holes in the back of the exhaust housing.

lol Bill, I'm not building it.Somebody I talked to was thinking of buying the crossflow powerhead to replace his blown '89 200 omc.The seller told him it would bolt right on.So you'all saved him some heartache! Now he's trying to talk me out of my spare powerhead......
