Hi there, I am new on here and I have a question for some of you guys that know about a boat walking side to side at top speed. I have a triton tr186 2001 model with a 1991 xri 200hp powerhead with all 225 stuff on motor I kept my xr6 150 mid and foot, the motor has a 25 pitch tempest prop on 10 inch jackplate, it turns 6800 RPM and at 68 MPH the front of boat goes left and right it's not a normal side to side chine walk ,it goes from 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock, it has more speed in it just can't drive thru the problem I am hunting a 24 trophy to try just wondering if anyone has anymore ideas the boat probably weighs close to 2000 lbs fully loaded fish ready. thank you

keep raising the engine a little at a time. the higher you can run it (safely) the better it will handle.

btw.. welcome to s n f.

Another suggestion is to check your Motor mounts and jack plate and make sure everthing is tight .Check your steering for any air. Also if you gear case is coned and you are not running it up on the surface that will cause handling problems.

All the above is very good advice. Gotta approach this systematically. After making sure that all is tight and adjusted properly you can start to maximize your boat. I did a triton with a 200 and loaded consistant 70-73 loaded speeds where easy with minimal steering input

the front of boat goes left and right it's not a normal side to side chine walk ,it goes from 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock

Does it get more severe if you don't apply any input ta try ta correct it?
