Do you have to run the holley red electric fuel pump & regulator on the 1984 85 mod-vp 2.4 mercs with wh-20 carbs? Or can you just run the regular old stock mercury fuel pump with maybe a couple holes enlarged?

I run the carter marine 8 gph with a mr.gasket 5.5lb regulator on Bridgeport w/wh46's no issues, it eats up high, and idles real sweet
