I'm changing my fuel pump to a Holley blue with a regulator for better pressure at higher RPM's when I start pushin my motor. To keep as much debris out of the fuel system I'd like to install my fuel filter just out side the fuel tank followed by the electric pump and then the regulator then to the carbs. Does anyone run it this way what do you all think.

The most effective way to run ANY fuel system in cars , boats or lawn mowers is to run a pre filter before the pump , a fine filter after the pump and then to the carbs in series or injectors and then to a return regulator with a return line going back to the tank or even mounted on the tank. That is how Mercury sets up their hipo motors and how just about every modern fuel injection vehicle and most of the later model carbureted cars are/were built. You maintain even fuel pressure at all times even when throttle plates gets slammed closed. With the old school dead headed fuel system designs the pressure pulse from the throttle slamming closed often overwhelmed the needle and seat and flooded the carbs. It also keeps a constant flow through the pump eliminating overheating , excessive aeration and vapor lock.
