Hey, Friends
I need some help I tried to hook up a water pressure gauge today. But it didn't work so I pulled every thing back apart and found I was getting no water from the top of the highest bank. So I pulled the other plug and the same thing ,no water!!!! I tried it both ways : w/ muffs and w/ flush hose Also tried running and not and running w/ engauged in fwd. Still no water !!!!
So, please help me if you know whats going on.

Many V6 yamahas wont pump much pressure running on a hose..Even on the flush attachment on the motor..Sometimes you can take the intake screens off and get more pressure and be sure you are using the rectangular shaped flush muffs..The round ones wont usually work well..Were you having cooling problems before???? If you are having pressure problems when the motor is in the water it could be the impeller or trash holing the poppet valve open..

Ok , I'm going to take it over to a local lake and try that. But are the screens down there where the water inlet is ??? and what is the poppet valve ?? and where is it ? and how do I check it??

WOULD NOT GET ANY WATER PRESS ON THE HOSE. PUT IT IN THE WATER. JUST ABOVE IDLE WAS 5PSI & WOT WAS 20PSI. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT IN THE RIGHT SPOT. MINE WAS ON TOP OF THE BLOCK JUST BEHIND THE HEAD. I THINK IT WAS A 17 OR 19MM PLUG.
HOPE THIS HELPS-X :D

Yes the screens are down at the water inlet...If you are going ot put it in the lake then leave them in ..The plug is a 14mm the adaptor for the gauge is 17mm..The poppet valve is the big hose on the bottom, back side of the block ,the valve is in the hose fitting where it goes into the exhaust plate between the heads..

Yeah, thats where it is there one on the top of each bank of the eng. I was told to put it on the highest side which is the right.

If youre using a Yamaha press gauge be careful not to let the cowling kink the hose if you are using the starboard side..After market gauges use a more flexable hose or an elbow fitting...I have tried both sides and never seen any difference...
