Looks like a grade 4 class wired it while in a Co-op with merc.
it has one of those awesome Sportmaster while works right now will actually let you down in the near future.

i cant wait to buy a yamaha so im selling this 300 promax at literally what it should be worth.

I remember my first boating trip to the land up north. A sunday at their Canadian Dairy Queen was $9.! My Yankee buddies told me what a great deal everything was but they didn't realize they doubled the price on everything before we got there!
BTW, a grand for a running 300 Merc seems a bit high to me.

Mercury went sour to me when they built the first Opti Pop.... Now for 2.0 and 2.4's and 2.5's they were great engines.. the 2.0's were the toughest outboards ever..

I'm sure it is something very simple, be patient...:leaving: take a step back, a deep breath, have a cold one and get a DDT on it. Sound like Tomanytoys could help you.
They are great strong running motors that is sensing something being off, it could be something as simple as a wire that came loose somewhere....from the roar of that power.....:reddevil::thumbsup:

BTW, If you want a good runner let me know, I have 2.....;):D

Whats guardian mode? I have a buddy who went from a 225 johnson on his 21 checkmate to a 300x and the performane is worse. Fuel and oil useage is brutal. Maybe uts in this mode if its legit

The Motorola computer is smarter than me. It wont invite me inside . And has a few measures to keep me from breaking and entering. But it will do it's best to protect me from myself .. :eek:
If I insist that I know the world outside of the computer better than it does , I can always look in the manual to see what the value of each sensor is , then go to radio shack and build my own "fake" sensor to fool it , cuz after all , it's only oil and water ... ;)

Is a Yamaha really any better?

A year or two ago I asked a seller on Ebay who specialized in selling a lot of outboards what his experience and opinions were, and all he could say was
"avoid the Yamahas", implying they were a lot of trouble.

He said since my boat is already rigged for Merc, to stick with that would be best.

Are you serious? Everything I've heard others say is that the Optis use 1/3 of the fuel and oil of the same HP conventional two stroke. Even though he went up in HP it should still use less.

It sounds like something must be wrong with his 300. Hard to believe the 225 is faster and uses less fuel.

I'm making some more metric nut covers today. The 300zsx's seem to not go into guardian mode with one of them installed ... :D

I like Suzuki's the best . Their cheap , and just like an alka-seltzer , you can put it in water and watch it fizzle away , right before your eyes ... :eek:

300x isn't a opti. But it does have about 100hp over the 225

What did you do to fix it ? Besides un doing the 4 bolts that hold it on and plugging a Yamaha extension on the harness ;)

funny i was just texting Keith that the yamaha i had on my challenger was a monster in the mid range compared to this promax.. how ever this promax might pull slow but it keep on pulling.
