I recently bought a 22' scarab with the 7.4 liter 454 with the mpi fuel injection.
it came with a 25 pitch mirage 3 blade prop. It runs well with 2-3 people decent hole shot and strong top end 70-75mph @4600 rpm.
But when I get one or two more people in the boat it dosen't want to plane out I have to have someone from the back seat come forward. What would be a good prop to try to keep my top end speed but gain bottom end hole shot?
Would a 4 or 5 blade prop help?

Any advice would be appreciated Thanks

Maybe try a vented 4 blade prop. Vents will help the engine get some rpm for getting on the plane when carrying extra weight.

I agree, a four blades propeller would be helpful. I think would be better because a four blades propeller raises the rear of the hull, it gives more "aero lift" and with 4 o 5 people on board it would be better than the Mirage. I really like the "Bravo I" for instance...! You can try to keep the same measure of 25', if you will have still problems about plane...you can also try a shorter measure, a '24. p.s. I know this post is old, but I wanted to try give my opinion... :-p And sorry for my english, is difficult sometimes find nautical terms in another language. :-)

Not a prop but you can think about a set of trim tabs. Even the small Benets make a huge difference in planing and staying on plane at lower speeds.
