3L Sportmaster Water Pump

Last time out I lost water pressure on my 3L Sportmaster. The water pump impeller and housing looked great. On closer inspection, it appears the impeller nylon brushing that fits in the drive shaft key was slipping. The impeller is about 2 years old but has low hours. The drive shaft and keyway look fine. I put a new impeller in and it seems fine just running it on the hose.

I've never heard this problem mentioned. Is this common?

it happens once in awhile. the impeller should be changed yearly, especially in a hi perf application.
