I it possible to replace a 300 SX mid section with out pulling the power head?

no need to pull the powerhead. but be very carful that powerhead does not fall on the floor when you pull the midsection out from under it. you may be able to fill powerhead with helium so it will float while it is not bolted to anything.

Not the whole mid section just the outside housing, it can be done on a 2.5 merc. :confused:

I think as long as you dont want to take tuner out and plan on cutting lower motor mount bolts. Going to a shorter mid? What about shift shaft

My lower gear case got lose and brook the housing. Replacing with another 20 inch mid section. a 1,500 mistake. The lock nuts were worn out and backed off.

Now if you find a way to get the four, 8 mm bolts that hold the engine adapter plate to the can out without pulling the tiller arm bolts and the power head .. then you probably have a good handle on the rubix cube as well ... :D

I have replaced my midsection and yes there are two bolts under the upper engine mounts you have pull the powerhead. It took two of us 6 hours, could do it in 3.5 hours the seond time around. The boat is back running at gps 97!!:cheers:
