I have an old '91 Merc V200 XRi 0D014703 that started having starting, idling, and WOT issues. I have had the injectors cleaned, overhauled the pulse fuel pump, and I have Chris Carson reeds on order. I'm also cleaning the VST and replacing all the fuel lines and bleed hoses while I have the front end off.

I have three questions related to replacing the bleed hoses:

1) Are these bleed hoses 3/32" id or 1/8" id? This is not specified in the Merc repair manual and parts diagram.
2) Should I use Viton hose (expensive!) or what, since these should probably be ethanol-resistant? I'm not too high on using Tygon because I think it is too notch sensitive and may not have the needed heat resistance.
3) Can I get the correct hose locally or should I bite the bullet and buy the Merc factory package that has twice what I need?

Many thanks for your suggestions.

Tygon fuel bleed lines you can get it from the mother mercury bible McMaster Carr aka the big yellow book

CNC Guy,
I have flown RC planes for about 15 years, and I have used the Tygon tubing on my gassers. That's why I'd rather not use it on my outboard engine. Even on a grass trimmer Tygon fuel lines go bad in two years. I'm thinking maybe a Viton tubing would be good.

I went to the good marina and they sold me Bombardier bleed line 7/64 inner dia. It fit tight on the bleed fittings so I used no clamps. It was expensive, 4.00 dollars a foot, and my motor took 14 feet of it (1979 150). Check your check valves too, 3 of mine were bad and new ones made it start and idle much better.
