Just bought a Raker and have just a washer and a thin prop nut from DAH. Do I just crank this on and go. No locking tab, cotter pin, nothing?? I is a scared; how about some postive reinforcement. David

I ran rakers on mercs for years on my bass boats. I always took them to a machine shop to have the rear of the hub shortned to allow them to fit on the merc. However, I have forgotten how much I took off. I think about 9/16 of an inch, but be sure you check it out first. You will love the bow lift.

I always drill a 1/8 inch hole in the prop shaft about 3/16 from the rear end. Then use an omc ss cotter key with the omc nut. Cut approximately 1/2 of the nut off so it will fit on the shaft and the key will still fit. Torque the same as a merc nut.

up until last year i ran a raker on my merc, must have been for 4-5 years, ran good for me. i just cranked it on every time with no problems
i ran it for lake use not racing but it was my best top end prop until i tried a new tempest.
good luck!

Crank the nut down and forget it! (I think 85 ft.lbs. on a JohnRude)
Use a 2x4 between the prop and the caviatation plate to hold it while torqueing.
I use the aircraft style lock nuts with the nylon inserts to keep them from backing out.
I have run all of my OMC motors this way with all of my wheels and never had one come lose.
Make sure and use the lock nut though!
You'll love that wheel!!

I actually left before I got yo replies cause I was dying to try the new wheel but I did as you said; I did tighten it with a 2X4 and she stayed on last night but now I won't be worried the whole time. David

Also assumining you're running the splined flat (lock) washer on under the nut on the back of the prop???

Just a flat washer and a nut that has been cut at DAH. This is on a Merc... David
