Thanking Steve for getting me a new static plate made. Had one delivered yesterday and the UPS dropped it and put a nice dent on the corner and a few scratches.so I wasn't gonna put it on my checkmate like that! So Steve's crew built me a New one to ship out today! Thank you very much.

Are you talking about the plate mounted to the anti-cavitation plate where a 'whale tail' type foil would go? If so how well do those work and are there many drawbacks to running them?

Static plate usually means it not adjustable. PH

Did they remove some material for the top lip of the splashwell area? Adjustment good? I am considering a 14" for my 03, was thinking Allison plate but these are priced right and look to be built right.

Yea, your right, Steve is a great guy with outstanding customer service. He built a new jackplate for me this spring and had it powdercoated. Turned out great and works great! I also call him all the time with questions, he always takes time to talk and answer all my needs. Thanks Steve! Scott

They are talking about the setback plate between the transom and the motor. The "whale tail" in Casey's pic that you are referring to is an Allison drag foil. It helps to plane the boat over faster and will usually allow a lower speed on plane. The height at which most of us run our motors there really isn't much of a drawback since its several inches above the water while running.
