what is best way to remove plugs from this prop? I am afraid I will damage them if I take a hammer and screwdrivver and pound out. How many plugs should I remove from my 26 throphy? Taking to the drags at the end of the month. 2003 allison 225 l/s pro max. thx for help

At about 18 cents a piece, it shouldn't matter. I chosen to maintain 10 or so. I score them with a wire cutter multiple times and then pull them out with needle nose pliers

thx for your reply. I didn't know I could get the plugs replaced at all. How many do have out on your set up?

It's not an either/or choice as Merc produces four different vents - one's essentially a plug and the other three have varying hole sizes.
I've got a 26 Trophy Plus on my 225 Pro Max. The boat is a TX19 Youngblood, a hull normally associated with big block jet boats so we're probably in an apples/oranges situation. I was under the impression that Merc shipped them with the medium holes but mine (new in box) had the large plugs in them. With those vents installed, I could only hold 5000 rpm during the hole shot without ventilating the prop and falling back off plane.
Operating at the other extreme now, I've put the solid plugs in and it hooks up better. I ordered an Allison hydrofoil through Baker Marine and I'm assuming I'll be readdressing the issue after it's installed.
Yeah, the local Merc dealer hasn't ever seen a Pro Max but he ordered the vents for me. Took three days. They come five per package and are stupid cheap.
