New to me Spectre 30, with 2010 twin merc 300xs w 140 hr on each. The engines are still in break in mode (after winterization) at 140 hrs. I think there is some issue with the starboard motor; I have noticed with both cleavers and the Bravo 4 blade prop that the port engine will rev first when trying to get on plane, and the stbd engine just doesnt seem to have the low end torque to spin the prop and to help on plane. There are no codes, and both start and run fine when on plane. Maybe the double oiling has caused some fouling of the plugs on the stbd, but with that I'd expect it to miss at idle-- and it doesnt. Any ideas?

is this your first cat? What is your gear ratio and prop pitch you are running? If you are running thru hub exhaust props with cleavers like the bravos you will need to make sure you have 4 ventilator holes. I have a set of herrings thru hub round ears that doe the same thing as they only have two holes in them. It is not abnormal for one motor to spin before the other one as a cat leans to oneside before it breaks loose.

that is the reason I call mine optiturds. no low end torque. does have very good midrange and top end. also great fuel mileage.

Thanks. Yes, my first cat. Lowers are 1.75 ratio. All plugs are out of the bravos. I guess I've just never had a boat that would break loose on one side before the other. So maybe this is normal.

I had the same problem on my Spectre with 2010 300XS. My Port motor was lazy and would not spint the RPM while getting on plane. Turns out it was a bad coil. Both motor should spin up equal while getting on plane.

I will check that, thx. Shouldnt it throw a code if there's a bad pencil coil?

When I had a coil issue I got a fault code on my Race View. It did not say which one but definitely gave a fault code. If you are not sure switch the coil packs from one side to the other and if the problem goes to the other motor you know you have a problem.
You do it by unplugging all wires and remove the 4 bolts for the complete assembly.

I just ran it on a diagnostic computer (rinda) and there were no codes last wk on either engine. Maybe I'll try that. thx

Break in mode, who put it back in the mode. I have a 2007 300xs and it is my understanding it runs more oil during the first 10hrs but not double. BTW I got 137hrs on mine and only had 2 coils go back since new, and both times the engine wouldn't even make it to 4000rpm. Do both lowers have same gear ratio(check them by marking crank and prop shaft). Can you post pictures of plugs from both engines?

I bought it from a member up in WI. The dealers up there "winterize" the motors each fall and put them in dealer mode. The lowers are the same ratio. Not sure when I'll get around to changing the plugs or checking them. When I originally complained about this a few mos ago, I had both fuel tanks full. As I have burned off fuel and not filled up again, I haven't really noticed it as much.

When we hooked up the DDT to my lazy motor it showed 2 weak cylinders. The plugs were good so it had to be coils. Replaced the coils and it came back to life. How old is the fuel? I have had problems with old fuel in the past. If its over a few months old pump it out and get fresh fuel. I only put the fuel I am going to use for the day in the boat. The boat will run so much better light on fuel. I typically only run 20 gals a side and run all day.

307225Hey bradmd, do you have a picture of your boat? Here is my 2011 Spectre 30.

Break in mode is 120 minutes with a load and a max of 75% power with increased oiling. You can put the motor in break in by turning the key on, engine off and shifting in and out of gear 5 times. Good to know if you have to race someone with one:D

Sorry for the late response. For some reason I'm not getting notifications. Fuel is 93 octane and was new when I noticed the issue. I just need to get it out and run it some. I'm putting the LU aftermkt seals in some time this wkend along w the vent kit
