You can put a single 300 on a 22 DCB or 22 Eliminator. These are much lower profile boats than a 22 Talon, but they are 22 Mod VP type boats.
The only similar thing with the same freeboard that I know of would be a 21 Skater or copy, but these are true tunnels.

you said,21 Skater or copy, was there a copy of the Talon?
Good chance most of the west coast 22's with center pods are modified splashes of the the original 22 Talons, the west coast boats came out after the Gary Armington designed his Talons. I had my 22 Talon next to both an Eliminator and DCB in and out of the water and there were some slight differences in the running surfaces and significant differences in the cockpit layout. My 22 outran an equally powered DCB. All Talons have a fiberglass/wood floor, covering the sponsons and center pod where some other manufacturers did not. Talons and Skaters have absolutely nothing in common in lineage and performance traits. Equally powered with a single 300 the Skater will top out approx 5-7 mph faster BUT the Talon is much more operator friendly. The Talon leans into turns (like a vee), has no lean during acceleration and absolutely no porpoise at any speed. I've cranked the wheel hard over at 50mph and the Talon carved a turn on rails. I added Dana Marine swim steps that worked and look great. My critism of the Talon is a very tight cockpit due to the center throttle pod and the original rear deck lid is useless. Needs to be modified to strengthen and have a nice pad put on it. Good luck in your search.

sounds like the 22 Talon is the best, hopefully the new owner will have some next year.

There was or is supposedly an original set of moulds in the Houston area I think before American Offshore , I looked at the moulds very well built and I would have to say looked original to me.

No one has mentioned a Cougar 22MTR. It has a flat floor with tons of storage under the bow and the large rear sunpad. It had 2 steps in the sponsons and is a centre pod boat, so no ill handling traits. It ran 92 on GPS with 300lbs of stereo gear in it. Hands down the best built boat I've owned. Euroski on here owns it now. My only complaint is it should have had a second 300X on it. They are very rare and hard to find used. I have attached a link to my Photobucket page that has all the photos I have of the boat. Check them out. Good luck with your search.

A Stoker 224 SST with a 300XS on the back would be a great boat, but not in the same lines as a Talon or Skater for sure.

If you are looking at a Talon 22. You might want to go where the original molds are and they are currently being built. www.talon22.com (http://www.talon22.com) Plus there is a post on here already showing the boats being built. Thanks Todd
