What are the pros and cons of removing the exhaust can on this motor? I know it will make it louder. Will it help performance or make it worse?

Are you going to drill the mid? If not. Then no benefit. If you remove can and drill, you might see just a tick more rpm or rpm but it will sound sweeeeeeet!

You do both. Remove can and drill. Just removing can does nothing.
