good show, Johnny. You & Dad kept your line and your pace perfectly; that other boat was contending, but not as consistent and that's what earned you the win. Nice job!

Wow, that is impressive. One forgets just how hard real offshore powerboat racing is on both man and machine. Great tussle, thanks for posting the footage.

Thanks boys!
Mike is right, we were taking the turns as hard as we could so we could run a bit easier in the straights to save equipment.
Dale they weren't that big except for the north end of the course, the issue was consistency...or lack of it. What a mess! A washing machine of 3-4s.

Great video Johnny! The fastest we saw (in Class 7-SOB) was 57 mph. It's always rougher than it looks from the beach!

I've going through some old Powerboat Magazine articles lately just for pleasure, and what I'm reading is ,,, these are the size boats that were the norm back in the beginning of the real foreward progression of this sport. I'm talkin the days of Kaama, Michelob light, Bob Nordsgog, 30' was a big boat. Definatly proving your ability Saris, as usual. wonderful video, truly lets us experience the absolute teeth gritting ride as much as possible. carry on, you guys are awesome. fun out

Thanks Mr. Fun!
Our Cobra was actually originally built as a Sport Class race boat in 1982, but never raced.

Well...not exactly. Dominick used it in a couple local races. But for the most part, you are correct.

It was used as a pleasure boat. When Danny backed out as throttleman, the racing idea was over.

Do you know who built your yellow 32?

Yes. Danny was working for Cobra at the time, my father (and current t-man) then rigged it at Harbor 1 while he was Keith's shop manager, boat was brand new. Was built as a Sport Class boat, Dan was to throttle. Dan backed out, Dominick rode around Ft. Lauderdale in it, put enough time on it to even need engine rebuilds (I have the pictures, and my father and Keith did it). Then it went to Chief and overseas.
