Hey guys. My 1985 blackmax 200 on my hydrostream had seen its last days. Thinking about buying a 1989 black max 150. how much speed do you guys think I will lose? Is the 2.0L better then the 2.4L I have ?
Thanks

ALL v6 Mercs of that era are Black Max. Don't let these guys jerk you around. Geez...
Having said that, you will lose a lot. If you got used to the power of the 2.4L 200, both all out horsepower and torque will be down. It will be slower out of the hole, and on the top end.

As Transomstand said 8-10 is a good estimate. The biggest problem with the 2.0L is tourque, especially when you start to throw some weight in the boat..passengers ! Holeshot and acceleration is still quite strong but putting a heavier buddy in my boat used to hurt, never mind two or three people. Their bulletproof motors though and man are they strong.
