2000 Evinrude ficht 175 SSV sputtering (E175FCXSSV)
This engine starts up immediately and idles perfectly, sounds perfect. From about 1500rpm through maybe 3300-3500 rpm it sputters, pops (like popcorn sound) and then runs like a scalded dog up until wot of about 5400 and sounds perfect. I never have any faults and the sparkplugs are new/indexed and new plug wires and coil packs, lift pump rebuilt.I have cleaned the exhaust pressure fitting/hose and have the engine hooked to brand new AGM Duracell 34m battery with minimal accessories energized, fresh fuel in portable tank hooked up. I have the evinrude diagnostic program 5.4 and tried to do an injector drop test at around 1800-2000rpm but could not really determine anything. The program mentioned something about the idle controller being active. The ignition timing has been verified. I even have 2 replacement ECUs and temporarily installed one, checked timing verification and operated engine just long enough to observe no change in condition.I tried a replacement new TPS with no affect This engine has the water cooled ECU with compensated 26V injectors and apparently the injectors are no longer available (original part #5000945 ,#5004479, #5000937(which is the number on my injectors).Last compression readings were OK around 110 plus or minus 5psi. Leak down of 5-8%. I read somewhere online about someone with a similar engine having the same symptom after an injector was replaced but not programmed into EMM/ECU correctly. After correction, engine ran normally.DFI will not rebuild the 26V injectors anymore but they will flow rate/check them for $80 each. I bought 4 used injectors (very hard to find) that I can try if needed. My original ECU needs software update and DFI offered to do it for just shipping cost but seriouly doubt that is causing the conditon.I could send DFI some or all my injectors to test but only if they would do a bulk discount rate.I hate to just trash the engine because I cannot get replacement injectors (if that is the cause) as it only has 350 hours on it. I have contemplated converting to an EMM controlled engine with engine harness replacement, stator and flywheel,Emm, 40V injectors and whatever else obtained used and cheap. At least there appears to be many used 40V injectors around and possibly new ones. Any help, advice or additional information would be greatly appreciated- thanks
