Hey guys! Just picked up a 1979 checkmate exciter over the weekend! It has a 1987 johnson 90hp on it, but I already have that for sale! Haha I can't seem to find the plate that tells me what horsepower it's rated for, does anyone know? I was thinking about trying to find a blackmax 175, mercurys XR2, XR4 or XR6, or possibly a johnson/evinrude XP/GT 150 or 175. What's your opinion? Thanks!

I'm just curious if anyone knew lol if I find a good deal on a 200 or something along those lines, better believe I'll pull the trigger on it!!
Is the Checkmate an Exciter (18') or Enticer (16') ? Exciter was rated for 180 and Enticer was 125, if memory serves. I can't imagine someone running an Exciter with a 90?

The exciter is rated at 150 HP. Should have a tag up front but if its anything like my Enticer its sun faded away. Of course that was in crank rated HP but who's counting.

Mines the exciter, 18'. I'm not really sure why the guy had a 90 on it, it can't get out of its on way with that thing on the back. My 16' Baja with a 100 in 24 mph faster! (61mph vs 37mph) I've looked all over for a tag, that things long gone!
