Good God Almighty....Evinrude, please say it isn't so!!! Mercury strictly holds the title of the butt-ugliest outboards for the last few years. Don't join the fad!

I feel like you guys are afraid of new, modern designs. something that reflects our push for greater technology. I don't think they are that bad. better than making another cardboard box for a cover. they look space age, and advanced. time will tell how they hold up, but they look new, fresh and modern. the same thing happens with cars.. like a mustang getting a more modern appearance, no one likes it now. but later, it wont matter as long as it performs

Read the last few pages of the 350 horse etec thread--new etecs, whole new block design, and gifted with a but ugly multi color cowl--but no 350, 300 max.

okay, did the reading of the last few pages.. I did read that us high performance boaters are not considered. I did read tat although they don't make 350 hp, they do make huge tq numbers. that means those massive center consoles will get up and start moving. they don't have fast gear ratios, but they are not built for an stv. they are nice motors IMO

BRP explained that they took last years cowl and rotated it 90 degrees to create the new panel design...voila, the G2. The look grows on you...especially if you get to ride in something with two of these or more on the transom:)

I`ve been seeing the Merc Verado for years now and it`s still the ugliest thing i`ve ever seen on the back of a boat. Time has not helped.

I have always like the verado cowls on the bigger boats... Thats just me. But these are gonna take a little while to grow on me.
I would like to see more big name manufactures start thinking more like the guys over at Seven Marine. Lets get the big HP wars going.

Anyone got any details on one of these?

The pics on the 350 etec thread show them in multiple colors and they look the best to me in the dark ones where the angles aren't so pronounced.
The verado is an ugly motor for sure. Time will tell on these I guess.

So you say they are not that bad. That's different than saying they look good. Nothing wrong with new as long as it's better. Maybe they run good, but they look terrible. A four stroke Suzuki looks 10 times better than that. As I recall, when they first took the Mustang back to the way it originally looked after modernizing it through the years, it was a smash hit and everyone loved it.
I have no fear of modern and new based on those alone, just hate to see something that looks bad and if it's overpriced that's even worse. I ride a 2013 Honda and would not even consider one of those 1940s replicas coming out of Milwaukee even if someone gave it to me.
