Thanks Guys.
Motor is a bone stock numbers matching original '97 Promax.
It has a fat shaft sporty and 1.75 gears.
I'm turning a 32" Lightning ET to the factory 6750 RPM limiter.
I'm running 6" of setback and the boat has full interior etc.
I'm very happy with this setup! The old girl can run!

Put on some life jackets if you are gonna do that. We don't need any RIP threads. Nice floater though.

I agree and I do as do my passengers 95% of the time. This/run video happened to be one of the rare exceptions.
The boat has all the proper go fast stuff and get a check over before every run.

Wow I had the EXACT same setup 12 yrs ago on an unmolested boat that I owned from new and a 1998 Promax 225 but the best I could get with a 30 ET and 2 aboard was 95. Very impressive. I wonder what is different besides my jackplate was a 10" Bobs not a 6. I don't think I was able to spin a 32 up to 67. I usually ran a 29 SRX for all around and passengers aboard.

I should clarify.... it has been a touch below 100 with 3 people.... most of the time the fear in their eyes prevents me from holding down the loud pedal for long. Solo it pulls like it wants to go 110!

That's not a bad number at all; I took setback away (8" to 6") and found it helped holeshot and didn't reduce top end. I'm as surprised as the rest of you with how well it runs... generally it would seem YT's are a bit underrated as a pretty safe and fast boat. The hull design works well however I think the drawback is the original build quality a lot of which has been well documented. I'm convinced a properly re-cored boat done with love and attention will run better than a brand new boat off the showroom floor in '86. My boat was original when I tore into it a few years ago and besides the obvious rot their was a major flaw with the way it was built. The center pod had a 1/4" void between the (unrotted) balsa and the fiberglass skin. This means at higher speeds the hull could hook and scrub speed. I posted photos of this in my rebuild thread and made sure it was done properly when I rebuilt it. If you experience was/is with an original YT you may have not been experiencing the hull working as it was designed. That's my 2 cents at least.

Out of all the many boats you owned Mike IMO that YT/Promax was the best one you ever had. The HST/Vindicator was almost as cool. The Vindicator ended up on my Viking I just sold !
