Found a hull for sale 20 foot that is rigged for a merc wanted to see what you guys thought of it. Im very new to boating.

These are the pictures off craigslist i just rehosted them, He is asking 2500 for it. What do you guys think? or should i just stick to finding an action marine?

I had a "SeaBird" which was very similar boat. You have more than $2,500.00 there in rigging and the trailer. Should run in the 70's with a 200. Scorpion's were pretty well built Miami boats. 299605

I'm not sure if those hulls were built in Florida or Canada but a couple of comments. First, the colors are timeless, you'll be safe with those. Also, find out what year that trailer is. Galvanized and in clean shape is worth a chunk. The lines are nice looking, if there are no soft spots and the gas tank is sound it's a nice deal. Find a 3.0L 225hp for $4k and run it.

Different scorpion...the 21 scorpion from canada is a flip of the challenger 21....and not great quality..

That looks badass! I was planning on running a 250 or 225 on it because they are readily available around me. Can anyone give me some pros and cons of this hull vs lets say an action marine or a checkmate? Appreciate all the responses!

You can run this boat in the ocean compared to an Action and it should be better built than a Checkmate.

What MPH should i be looking at with a 225 or 250 with a prop to match? Is it possible to see 90s?

these boat molds got around in the 80's, small pad, no step...I've had two of them, one cc the other w/ closed deck, both had 200hp, same set back, ran 65mph w/ 24p props @ 6000...good bay boats...nice long deck lines, not many around...good find...worth the money for shure...won't ever be as fast as an ACTION with same power but cool boat just the same...good luck...

90 mph? For $6,500? Sure, pass the pipe.

SeaBird Boats in Florida was the original manufacturer of this design, in the late 60's. Was used in the 1969 OMC Sterndrive literature jumping completely out of the water as an all royal blue I/O hull, full page photo. They sold so few, they sold the molds. Later Scorpion & others made them. From flats boats to keys hoppers, to bonefish boats, & center-consoles...that hulls been around. It is nothing like the Challenger at all, in appearance, design, or performance.
