I have been looking at a few boats the past few weekends I found one I have some interest in but cant Id what the motors are the serial number doesn't start with an number than a letter like most all the mercury high performance power heads ive seen or owned It starts with a 95 the year of the powerhead according to title they look like 2.5 horn efi race motors but the title isn't validating that, and the serial number on the block doesn't validate that its a race powerhead. Could this be a consumer motor with high performance efi? all the guy could say is there a 2.5 and that I already know.

Most "replacement" hot rod blocks and/or power heads that I've seen didn't have tha 0 then letter on it. They were numbers. Look at tha number on tha block on this thread...............Post 26 page 2. Is that tha type number ya got?

Title and clamp number sometimes don't mean squat if its been around awhile...........

Yeah that's what I got. It has so many miss matched parts I'm thinking someone threw it together to sell. And pulled the "good stuff"

Tlwjkw is correct. If the blocks were warranty/replacement blocks the serial number cant be traced via conventional methods. A good mercury dealer might be able to help. Posting some pictures would help someone chime in and help identify.

Regardless warranty/replacement or not. There should be a date stamp on the #2 outer cylinder right behind the Timing arm.

Guys I passed on the boat. I was not getting a good vibe about the tanks. I could visually see where fuel was attacking/ discoloring the gel from outside the hull. I could see the outline of where the tank is from the side.
