Does anyone know what the max PSI for a blue printed V8 should be? Before we blue printed and evened out the ports on it the PSI was 135, this is an original 3.6 punched out to 4.0 liters. We now have 150-152 psi after raising the ports and the motor has not been broke in yet , only about 30 minutes at the dock, and this is with stock 4 liter heads, I have a pair of Taylor Marine and Machine heads and I am afraid to put the on with the PSI at this level? anyone? I have been told that the max PSI should be 145 to 155, but I have also been told that stock V6's are usually 150...HELP!!!!:D:eek::confused:

Fwiw, my old 2nd Effort V8 had a 150+ comp and I never ran anything other than pump gas

A stock, carbed V-6 looper has about 100 - 110 PSI and a 225 HO/250 about 115 - 125 cranking compression.
The 8's varied a bit from yr to yr abut I think 130 - 135 was the high side.

Careful getting too geeked about compression prior to break in. I've had numbers all over the board on new rebuilds.
High #'s, low #'s, variance from hole to hole but once broke in they'd be where they were supposed to.

Gordon at Monty Racing did mine. VERY satisfied after 6 seasons...still going strong.

+1 on Gordon at Monty racing. Probably the best V-8 man anywhere. The motors idle like stock but run like a striped ape. He's very reasonable for his work too.

Glad to hear, I did a comp check on the current motor and had 3 at 125, 4 at 127 and 1 at 115. Thought maybe I forgot to ring that one!
