I am looking for the setups on the the above boats to see what you are all running.
I am looking for:
1- hull
2- motor
3- setback
4- prop
5- rpm
6- gearcase and gear ratio
I am just fooling wiht some setup ideas, and have some in my head. I just want to see if I am in the ball park.
Thanks

My Rallysport is the same hull as Superboat, Shadow, and Challenger. I use a total of 18 1/2 inch setback, 2 1/2 inches below bottom, 26 Trophy prop, 225 Optimax, Fleetmaster gearcase. The Sportmaster was 4 mph slower. You need setback to get the nose up. 75 mph without windshield, 72 with. It's a 2001 and for sale-$25,900

Wildman,
How does your boat handle with all that setback?

The more setback, the better it handled. The 4 blade Trophy help handling alot too.

22- 2.4 BridgePort EFI, Bobs nose cone about even with pad, 15" set-back, 22 small ear chopper . Top speed was 74 GPS . Making some changes in the spring, 5" more set-back, SportMaster LU, 22 Big Ear chopper with cup, tighter heads, and looking at interior changes to make it lighter.

However the challenger is a real early super boat. They are similar, but not exact.
Firewalker, What are you looking to acomplish? What style of water will you mostly run in? Will you ski? What kind of load will be most common on board? A set up on one boat might not work on the same boat under different conditions.
My set up
85 22' Velocity, 3200lbs (on a scale)
slightly modified 98 260 Merc, 15" mid
Sportmaster/ 1:87s
3/4" above the pad
No set back
14.5X22 Chopper warmed up by R&R
76.5 @ 7500 rpms on gps consistantly
Killer slip factor hu.
This year IM running a 280 powerhead and a different prop, same size chopper with the same work by R&R, I just went to the fat drive shaft and needed the newer hub. For all I know I might go slower, you never know.

Pit Bull,
The boat is a 1981 Aerated and notched bottom Challenger.
It is a very light boat, 1000lbs.
This is my everyday, fun, gonna have a sterio, and a cooler boat.
I have a nautique for skiing.
The bottom has a 7" long notch, 4" tall, I am gonna use a bobs 6" setback with 2" spacers. 2.5 Merc for power. I am going to start with a small hub 24" trophy.
The information I was looking for is more to get a baseline of performance, being as the bottom is aerated, and these were designed to run with twins as this did when I got it, I am running into the unknown. I guess I will find out in a few mths.

I would see what you can do with a 14.5X26 big ear chopper before the trophy.I dont care for set backs at all but most guys seem to have luck with them. Keep us posted.

I had and raced in the APBA a 21 Shadow with a 2.4 on it with 16'' of setback and ran a 24 mazco. It an 74 +/- all day long.
I ran the Old Benihanna race (Now called the Point Pleasant Race in NJ) and was jumping 3-5's with the boat the whole race and never skipped a beat. One of the greatest small boats in the ruff stuff. Does your boat have a pad in it with a notched transom?

Aqua that would be a FRENCH flag, I considered putting a Canadian flag in there, as we are not much more help. BUT, at least we don't surrender all the time.
As for the boat, yes it has a pad with a notch.
