What does the humpback cleaver offer that a regular cleaver doesn't?

Humpback=four blade, regular cleaver=three blade. Just like
in the picture.

I was told the theory was the humps gave more blade area while turning or trimming down the boat for a corner for more bite.

I use to run the humpback on my needle nose and it would rip thru the corners at the suwannee...

Technically I believe they are not purposely built for turning or acceleration but the "humpback" was designed to aide in deceleration......it seems stupid to me to design a prop like that for a ratcheting gear case but that is what I was told by a reputable person. I def could be wrong or mis-informed tho lol!

Shramer, I think I remember that too. On the SSM they were supposed to help the boat set for a corner.

how did that cleaver run on the stv,

motorheadbishop
05-28-2014, 05:21 PM
Never ran it on my stv... Don't recommend it on a light boat, as it has a large diameter... (lots of stern lift)
Would work great on a heavier stv , or euro that's needing some stern lift....

Just not sure how light yall wanna go with 15.25 diameter...
500lbs is too light ( and rigged light for drag racen) a 650-700lbs hull
With standard rigging would probey be fine...
