I bought a 78 Vector off here on 4-17 was posted as new core, subfloor, carpet all done in 2010 with reciepts from reputable fiberglass shop. It also had dual opposed steering, solid transom, minor spyder cracks in splashwell, older merc controls with 3 ram mid and 2010 trailer only needs powerhead and lower unit to be lake ready for $1800.00 I thought perfect and have a buddy thats been looking to get into something like this for about 3 years. I have a real nice XR2 150 with a coned 200 and was thinking that this would be and awesome set up for him to start with. I figured set up right the boat should run 70-75 mph easy and a great way for him and his 2 young boys to have fun. I set up a date to meet and pick the boat up but I had something in the shop that needed to be done so I sent my uncle tp pick it up. So about 8-9hrs driving later and $200 in fuel he shows up with the boat. At first glance my impressionwas that there is quite a few more stress cracks and blems than described but I figure oh well I wasn't expecting a trailer queen and it is a 78. So now I jump in the boat to check it and to my suprise the new rear subfloor flexes and you can hear the glass creeking and cracking so I pull back the the bilge cover to check out the nice new core work only to find NO NEW CORE. I said to my uncle WTF and he knows nothing about boats but said that the guys sent pics of repairs with reciepts. I go in the house to look at paperwork only to find that 2' of core above pad had been replaced and the subfloor repair looks to be pieced together. Not to mention the repairs were done in 2006 not 2010 and the paperwork stated new subfloor, new carpet and repair bottom NO mention of core. I contacted member he said that he thought I got a GOOD DEAL and didn't know why I wasn't happy. I said Ryan I was told one thing and got another and offered to drive the boat back at my expense but he didn't want to work with me AT ALL. Oh yeah I cant foregt to mention that after closer inspect I found the screws for foot throttle right through hull and it gets even better the transom is rotten and even more the 2010 trailer is a 2006. He claims he didn't know and thought I should still be happy because it has a nice windshield and trailer and that worth about what I paid. I told him that anyone who has been a member here for over ten years should know better and I believe he knew exactly what he had. So guys what do you think of my new Vector???? And Ryan "2fast4U2" I can't say thank you enough for being such an honest stand up guy.

Thats a bummer. I guess "buyer beware" always applies and you definitely had some red flags before money exchanged hands. I would subtract the money it would have taken you to take it back it to him and sell it as a project.

Suppose you didn't know anything and trusted his word, then went out and drove this death trap???

Yeah buyer beware for sure very bad on my end. I always expect a seller to fluff up what they are selling a little but this was unreal. Had multiple coversations with him and questioned everything more than once. I can live with my mistake but hoping my post will help someone else avoid dealing with him and learn from my mistake. I am very honest and obviously a little nieve and expected way to much from a 10 year member of S&F. I WOULD NOT try and resell something like this to anyone. I will probably try and part out what I can and take my lumps.

I have and he did feel bad about MY mistake. I don't expect him to get my money back but I did tell him this is not the quality of member anybody wants to see here. I am so glad that I have enough experience to know this was a very unsafe boat and if someone who didn't know could of ended up hurt or worse.

Yea, I guess it's a problem. There are so many great people here that it's easy to let your guard down for the few scumballs.

You have learned a hard lesson here. The only thing I will buy without looking into someone's eyes and inspecting it for myself, is something I am willing to gamble my money away on. There are a few exceptions, close friends, family etc. Plus a few on here that have frequently talked about stellar reputations. I won't mention any names, primarily because I'll leave someone out that I wouldn't want to. I don't know what type of trailer it is, but it sounds like if your patient, you might be able to get somewhere between $600 and $1,000 back from the parts. Having seen none of it, just based on your description and your urgency to liquidate. Sorry to hear of the disappointment. Best of luck moving on.

WOW that really sucks would of saved me the 1800 for boat and 300 in transport cost. I did tell Greg that I understood that he doesn't want to bog done the buy sell forum but if someone has knowledge of something good bad or ugly it is worth it and in the past has helped me making up my mind on pulling the trigger on something or not. Also you gave it to much credit when you say half assed

Jerry sorry to hear about your trouble this guy you bought it from isn't that bright he bought a 260 and put it on a twin power boat no problem right except the other motor was a pro max the guy selling the 260 told him is was not going to work and he was going to wreck a cherry 260 well one hour later pow

Thanks mike that sucks hear that poor 260 ended up in the wrong hands. I would buy the lack of knowledge as an excuse but after I very nicely explained the problem there was know concern only trying to convince me that I still got a good deal. I even attempted to contact him several times to work out any reasonable solution but he ignored me. You know that I'm afraid to piss away money on boats and motors and we have both spent more than $1800 in less than 1000' lol I just think people should hear about this.

Sorry to hear about the vector, but nothing surprises me any more. People flipping good parts drives up the cost of junk ones.

Your valid opinion bumped down our favorite vendor selling his junk parts, this is a violation of our "rules".

Wow Jerry that blows, I hope you get something resolved.
I am leaving the country and had hoped to spend some money over the year but after seeing this has me rethinking. I understand there will be some guys that are willing to sell junk but the fact that the add was censored is very concerning. I will just stick to ebay, I think my chances are better there.

I just bought a 1979 v-king and it was supposed to be turn key and it isn't. The worst thing is he drilled holes in the bottom when putting in the seats. Yuk!. He did repair that but did a poor job. Also the windshield has a crack which he didn't mention. He raised up the motor on the manual jackplate and damaged the impeller. The seats are in fair/less then fair shape but work ok. I am glad the kid had his father do the recore and fiberglass work. He put in a new dash with all new wiring but reinstalled mis matched gauqes. http://www.screamandfly.com/showthread.php?280454-1979-V-King-Blue-Flake-Recored-Restored-Turn-key

Yeah if I would have seen Capt.Insane-O's post before it was deleted I surley would NOT have bought this thing.
Don't worry about buying stuff while your gone I will keep stockpiling and your "TOP SECRECT" project will be upside down behind my shop waiting for you. Best of Luck Buddy

Yeah a few important things left out there. Some of these things may not be complete deal breakers but when not mentioned or just plain lied to about stuff that really sucks. This guy could have probably sold this as a project to someone looking for one. He would of never got the $1800 for it but he would of kept a good rep. and to me thats worth way more than a few dead presidents.

The condition of the boat may not be contestible in court, but representing the trailer, which has a title or registration, as a 2010 and it being a 2006 certainly is. You have a case right there.

You are absolutely right on that one but I have a life and my time is worth way more to me. I own 2 body/repair shops, 3 towing locations, a boat storage business and have a wife and 2 young kids so I'm gonna take my lumps and move on. I did all the wrong things on this deal and as a businessman I should have know better. I just want everyone to know about this guys creditability and maybe learn from my mistakes. Not this guy is gonna care but if there is a reason to ban someone I think this tops the list. My theory is if life hands you lemons make lemonade than get a couple bottles of vodka and share it with the good people.
hard to believe for 1800 measly dollars 2fast4u2 is that cheep and down right untrustworthy sob
there are many out there and when we send someone to check something we purchased or have it sent
then all hell breaks loose because it was good condition or it ran when I parked it 20 years ago.

I don't have a dog in this fight but on both cases of the Hydrostreams that were not as represented you still have to keep in mind you handed over the money and took possession of the boats. No they do not quite match the descriptions but if you handed over the money even after seeing a bad core or a crack in the windshield or whatever then you accepted it as it is. Shame on you. I know it is hard to go and inspect it in person but if you want the boat bad enough you will do it and either hand over the money or walk away. I know it sucks when people are not honest but the only way around it is to check it out for yourself or pay a professional to do it if you can't before you hand over the cash.
Three important posts here. #6 I agree with 100% and it's an easy trap to fall into. #11 is what we all should do when you know there is a bad deal being perpetuated on another member. #27 is about as good of an attitude as one can have when his butt is probably still a bit sore.
I just recently made a deal with a guy for a 260 rotating assembly. I told him I would strip down running motor and once I seen the bores were good I would send it to him. During the stripping process I found great bores but screws in the top cap for the stator stripped out and needing repair. I offered to either sell it to him as is and he could replace the defective part with one off his blown motor, tap new holes, or I would buy him a new cap. He stated he would contact his mechanic and I never heard from him again causing me to not only lose the sale but now I have a formerly running motor in pieces. I would much rather be where I am now then have a member not get what he expected. This motor was part of a deal that ended with me buying a totally junk boat (looked great in the pictures and there was no mention of any issues whatsoever) so I guess I should not be surprised the motor has issues also.

The people that also get hurt along with these dis-satisified, misled, stream buyers are the ones that have a legit, good quality boat for sale. This stuff makes ALL the used streams have a bad rep and drives the prices down into the basement. I will never sell mine, but some guys like to sell their good re-built hulls, and buy fresh projects as a way of having fun. This crap makes it tough to come out even at best. It is killing the hobby. IMO

For the most part we are all willing to check something out for our brother boaters. The problem here is that a post in the sales add stating it was being misrepresented was removed. That shouldn't happen.

I said before years ago, a sticky stating in the hulls for sale; any 1st generation Hydrostream is considered a $500 worm box unless physical proof can be provided otherwise. To be fair and honest, this latest Vector I'm doing for myself I would have to get $10,000 for the hull alone to break even. Sad but true, and that is how it is.

Okay, its been almost a month since this deal and I was told by Admin, that they would look into this but still no word. I told Greg as well as Admin. (Raceman?) I don't expect them to get me money back but I expressed that he should be held accountable yet I see this guys membership has not changed WTF. It sends a message to me that I don't have to be a stand up guy I can misrepresent items and basically rip off members and thats okay. As I stated earlier in post if this is not a reason to get banned what is??? I guess I am just wanting to hear his reasons for the misrepresenting and how thats okay.
