Have a chance to buy swap. I just bought a 84 25' Skater has 2.5 280 hp engines. The boat has been in storage for 8 yrs. I have a set of running 225 EFI Mariner offshores. Should I trade after doing a simple compression test on the 2.5's not running or install my 225's? What will be the speed difference and can I even install the mariners on this hull?

Get your wallet ready either way.. Boat runs great in the rough but your looking at some cash either direction you go. Do a leak down on the 280s

Once you hear those two 280's cackle away, you'll throw rocks at the 225's.

Would do compression check then pull heads to inspect all boars along with check to see if the 280's are top pin. 280's rock .

Opening up the tanks is the first thing with this project, lean fuel flow is thousands of dollars lost. Built a 86 30' Velocity, has twin 825 hp(dyno, no BS) engines, my builds, 102 GPSmph. This is my first outboard. Think I went from a 100mph boat with the 2.5s to a 75mph, grandma in an inner tube, wearing depends, towing sloth. Total buzz kill!!! Off to buy an Ebike.

Just got your PM. The 260 hp engines you are selling seem like a great deal. How many hrs? EFI or carb?. Complete less props? What do you mean they are steel blocks, thought all were aluminum with nickosell bores, kind of like a dirt bike. Call me tomorrow 519 344-1275 Andy
