Hey all,

Let's see who can get this one... This is a scene from the movie "Jaws" that I captured from DVD last night. The red arrow points to a small outboard engine in a barrel. What kind of engine is this?

Gotta be older than that. Even the pre-redish/burgundy Johnsons were green and had a similar rounded cowl. That thing looks like some old exposed powerhead type engine. I'm sure Sam C. can tell exactly if he can see enough detail in the picture.

Could be 47-52, so I just split it down the middle. Ever see a Volvo-Penta outboard? :D

on second look, its still 5 1/2 johnson 55/56 anything before has a different pressure relief in the back, to bad can't really see front half of mid-sections..55 and newer had rubber mounts as 54 and older had spring or nothing. throttle handle looks OMC:confused:

I'd agree with you if it were in pieces US1 :D :D Since it's intact, it either belongs to someone else, or Rex hasn't broke it in yet :D
