What's going on guys. Few questions on my 2.5 225 merc.its the older style not the promax. Engine has the pumper carbs on it and the 40amp heavy charging system. I'm looking to swap the ignition system over to the smaller and lighter styl, I believe the 16amp? For the carbs is there any side effects with removing the pumpers? Any advice I'll appreciate it
Thanks guy

There wasn't a carb 225 built in 93. Maybe its a 200?

the only 225 from that era was a 2.4 but it had 16 amp system, the 225 2.5 did not hit the market till 1994 then as promax they were never any production 2.5s that were 225 other then promax or 225x and none of the 2.5 were carb that were 225 the others were 3.0 and came in to being about the same time what are you replace the 40 amp with alum or stock 16 amp

Painted black.block is a 1990 with a painted 7 peddle reed setup. I would feel a little better if it was a 200 at these speeds I'm getting. Any marks to give away that its a 200 or 225?

It has the 40amp system trying to decide if its worth swapping everything over to the smaller charging system

yes there were two years of that motor its a 200 the lite wheel would give you a better hole shot and sound cool but no more on top cut the heads to 34cc and wake it up, a 2.4 from the early 80's is all that was 225
