Recently acquired a 1982 21' Superboat which had been sitting a few years.

Started making a list of things needed, resealed the transom (proved to still be in very decent condition), found another trailer and had a new interior made.

With Today's great weather it got a full washing that it badly needed.

Things are looking a lot better already....the transformation will continue.

1982, wow 3 decades old. That's about my vintage. Is that one of the first model years for Coen and the 21?

Thanks Tux !.....Interesting what you say as my first introduction to Superboat was back in 1983 when I bought a used 1979 21' (white w/blue stripe). I must have had one of the very first, but I thought the very first might have actually been in 1978 ? It was very nibble with just a 200 merc. This boat has had very little updating over the years and still has teak onboard. Seat coverings were very worn and torn so just recovered everything.

Greg G......I think your answer is above.

JohnR.......only going to race YOU. :D

Doc, JC started playing with the mold late 77 but if I remember correctly the first official one was in 79. His idea from day one was to sell you a turn key package with trailer for under $20K....the 200 Merc was the factory motor!

Great review of the history Tux. An excellent example rigged present day can command about the same 20K in resale today I figure.

I think of it as just saving another worthy SOB. :D

Not many black ones ever made I'm guessing. It is a lighter weight year so I am also wondering how it will run compared to your tricked out Challenger.

Ps. Love that black vinyl wrap on the Venom James...Can't wait to see it run in person soon.

A friend of mine bought a new 21 from John in 1979. In those days they came with 74 gallon tanks. I bought a new 1981 21 from Ken SR. at K&K. They were a Superboat dealer back then.

If the mind still serves me correctly, the 74gl tank ones were for possible twins....;)

I never knew they ever used a 74 gal tank but that could well be. My 79' had a 60 gal. as I recall.

Oh , great picture ! Anymore of this boat? If only it had the cover off so I could see the seats etc. Looks like the same boat colors...cream/Black w/red stripe.

Past owner was a James from Freeport and he was owner for 8-10 years I believe. Boat only has a short 6" hydraulic jack.Gauges are centered in dash black stripe area as seemed early years customary.

Not sure what happened to all the content in my Superboat thread but I found this thread after someone asked so I will bring this back to the top at least.

I Think we should link this other 21' thread here too:

Whats' the story on the 21 for sale on craigslist in Greenlawn ?

I believe its a basic stock boat, had a replacement over size tank (65gal) put in years back. It needs someone to refinish installing transom plates and tie bars and re-setup with a motor/jack plate and could be a good boat.

Like most boats needs some love and attention, trailer too.

My shadow ran 78 with a carb 225 and a super is deffinately lighter than my boat...
