Who sells Merc 3.0 head stud kits?

Also best place for solid motor mounts?

For solid mounts I would go with the Simon kit:

My 3.0 had the typical round two piece top mounts installed before I got it. The plate that holds the mount and the clamshell on top of them both broke. It all was replaced by a very reputable member here and then the boat was used a few times. When I took it apart because I found some slop in the tiller while I was preparing to hang the motor on my boat, they were broken again, more the top clamshell than the base. I went to the Simon set up and have been fine since then. A little more money but worth it from the experience I've had.

Also, I would loctite the bolts that hold the top mount down.

That's what I used. Prepare yourself for the price of that base gasket. I don't know about an aftermarket one but the Merc one was over $70. :(

If you're gonna cut the tuner now's the time to do it.

I think we are at the point of a total rebuil. I popped #6 Sunday running back to the weigh in.

It scratched up the sleeve pretty good and blew the skirt off half the circumference.

Its my my guide boat so I do want it some what quiet, for now anyway.

Just think John if you have an Alien cowl you need two of them gaskets. Thank god I work where I do:D
