I am just getting my Talon ready for the water and I'm wondering about engine heights for this boat. I am using a
CMC 9" step-back bracket along with a CMC Powerlift and a
2.5 EFI SS motor. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to hear from Dave Dupont Jr
about your set-up and anyone else with a 21' Talon. You can
post here or e-mail me at nancy.hindle@ns.sympatico.ca
Thanks
Gary
I have the following props to choose from;
Mazco RE-3 14.5x28
Mazco RE-4 14.25x28
Merc 15x28 3 blade cleaver
Merc 14.5x26 big ear chopper
What props are you running?

Your buddy has a 22ft Talon running a single 300 and is in triple digits?????

Can you tell us more?

He's gotta have a 300X!!

To get to 100, I have to shed all practicallity, hole shot, ice chest, passengers.....

Love to hear more!!!

Razor's Talon wasn't "destroyed" but was damaged. He just got finished re-glassing the deck/hull in the sponsons and stuffed it a week or so later. I hope mine isn't prone to the same separation of deck and hull! and I hope I don't get to test it...

Hydrogasm, I have a Talon 22 but I have 2 friends here that are running Talon 21s. We have tried many props... are in the process of running more. We are all running Merc 300s (different model years) and here is the current thinking:
-Mazco RE4 28 is a good all around prop. GPS top end in the low 90s on a perfect day, low weight.
-Spinelli 4 blade 29 & 30 are still being tested but show a little more top end possible. We will see...

They have not added setback other than the 5-6" jackplate. This winter we are all going with some more setback AND transom reinforcement projects... since we are probably adding 10-12" of setback. Yikes!

Take care and try and fly that thing as level as you can!

TUNNEL T,

Yup, I am around the Brentwood area. Actually, in Oakley. Two of my friends have Talons also... One of those friends talked to Mr Razor last week... I had heard that the boat wasn't a lost cause. I know he had just finished fixing the same problem. Hope mine doesn't do the same thing.
Anyhow, we are out and about most weekends.
What are you running?

OK, I'll look for ya... My Talon is white with a paint scheme similar to what Dale had before he spent the money, colors are red/orange/yellow/black...
and I know what you mean about drivin' a 22' like a 32'. I hear he was out near Benecia... that water can get kinda big. See ya!
