Honda "Ruckus" rant..

JEEEZZ! SO "convoluted" I got a 5hp Briggs in a Mini Bike..(and my go kart), and will out run this "thing". BUT? Its only a 50cc pig..(aint the first time I worked on one either, friends here).me a hour to yank the body work, to even find the battery, and see the motor guts. Its a kids here, and simple won't fire. Of course not maintained, old gas that is sour, etc.

BUT...do they REALLY need all the "junk, to run?" Pix...

Far as I got yesterday was junk crap off, old gas out and fresh in with my "secret sauce" clean any carb mix. Next check for spark. Got that, then see if fuel pump working. Then its try it but bet a carb junked up. Damn they SHOULD have gone EFI! Got every other damn thing in the way it. This "thing" sure is the answer to a question no one asked!

The more I look at the more I like my old Shovelhead!

Well, messed the little beast today. Good spark, and shoved some gas in the plug hole. Nothing. Did one my old tricks for "gas". Drilled a 1/8th hole the air intake before the carb. Simple aint gonna pull the plug a dozen times. And when running, just shove a small screw in the intake hole to plug it.

Shoot some gas out a small can, small spout, and into the intake before the carb. Try it. Got fire, but not for long. More, and got better. But the batt gave up. Thing is that long hose..(pump works) bottom tank to the carb, is old gas, as the float bowl. I just gotta keep "gassing it", manual, until the "magic mix" the tank takes over line and bowl. Carb has a drain the bowl, but to get to it?
Not gonna happen without a yank off.

TRUST ME...never buy on of these......;)...UNLESS ya do constant MAINTENANCE!..(and drill a couple holes the side that Front Batt box). Forget 6 screws to take it off. Run 2 wires out and check or charge the batt...(or what Honda SHOULD have done there!). New sucks, old school still rules! And that old Shovel mine? Owned 35 years..(79 FXS motor been out now a stroker 86 CI S+S motor. Cammed, done right. Go's like hell, just don't turn! (Thats what the CBR1000F did for me.."kicks the twisty's with "stickies";):D:thumbsup:

BUT? That old Shovel came with the New.."no points, now electronic?" HA! Lasted 2 years and gave up the ghost side the road. Went to Harley..(known friends) and way back then was $136 a new one in the nose cone. Dude told me.."go back to points". Its a issue known about. For $26 sell ya a "back to normal, Blue Streak points and condenser, new cam and plate, and good forever. Been 33 years now, and only changed the points twice.. "like a "Timex"..watch..(yep, dating my old azz).....Takes a licking, and keeps on ticking!:thumbsup:

Sorry to say, but the ruckus is by far the most disgraceful POS that honda has produced. I cant imagine that they farm out that thing to someone else, but it has nothing in common with their usual quality. Get what you can in scrap for it, then buy yourself one of these....

Got ya dude. As THATS NOT the Honda I know. Had many, last a cbr1000F. Have a 'Spree" scooter, a CH 150 "rat marina runner", and a CT70 "mini trial" too. ZERO probs any! Had to search Ruckus forums, (Love the "Duc" by the way! That a "Dark"? what motor? Had my eye on one but too many bikes then anyway) Heres a link found. Dude is funny who posted it..but there is ELEVEN pages this thread! "How to clean a Ruck Carb? Freaking JOKE! WHY SHOULD ANY? Saying carb clean out every 1500 miles? WTF? Check it out..good info..(NOT to buy one..or stuff a 150CC in it? Ugghh...
