I myself liked it, especially seeing Williams running with the big dogs again. Can't say I didn't enjoy watching Daniel Ricciardo out qualifying and out race Vettle's butt.
I think Jan Magnussen's son is gonna be a force to recon with and Bottas was looking strong as well.
I know it's the first race in a season with major reg. changes but 6 different teams in the top 8 positions is cool.
I do have to say the cars don't sound great on TV during practice and qualifying. They sound better running together during the race, kinda like the CART cars in their heyday's. The Ferrari's do sound good IMO though.
EDIT: Just read where Ricciardo was DQed because his car used too much fuel per regs. http://en.espnf1.com/australia/motorsport/story/149695.html

The noise was off and I don't quiet get this new turbo formula and limited fuel usage thing. These things are running about 60 litres per 100 klms or in your language about 4.5 MPG. Does fuel usage at rate really mean anything? I hate seeing high tech machines held back in the interest of a greener world. The sound of the old V8 formula cars raised the hairs on the back of your neck. Miss that.
Oh yeah, I might be biased but My home town of Melbourne puts on the worlds best GP, especially as a season opener.

The in car footage and sound of a car with an engine "malfunction" of the fuel system sounded like a duck farting. Not impressed so far. I really liked the insane complexity of the cars. 7 people just to start one up? But the glory is gone. Why does non green Nascar flourish? Noise and advertising.

My understanding is all this came about because the car manufacturers were complaining they couldn't justify spending money on engine and hybrid tech that they couldn't transfer to road cars.
I agree on the fuel usage BS. Let them burn it. At the very least they should let them start with the amount of fuel they want to, not exceeding the max allowable, and let them ad fuel at ONE of the pit stops.
I've been watching F1 since I was a kid, I turned 50 this past Sunday, and every time there has been a big change in the engines people complain they don't like the sound of the new engines. I remember a lot of bitching about the sound of the V10's the first season of them. Then when it went from V10's to V8's people bitched the first season of that. I never cared for the sound 20-19K RPM V8's myself but did love the tech it took to make them be able to turn that high and last.
I thought the preseason turboV6 UTube vids sounded good but I don't care for what I heard on TV, at Australia.
I do like the reduced grip they have this season. I like seeing the drivers having to drive the cars.
