This ain't my idea. Somebody sent it to me in an e mail a month or so ago, but I haven't tried it until today:

Yesterday, I had 14 pieces of junk mail when I got home. Several of em were the good old "you've been approved" lines of BS. 9 items had postage paid return envelopes enclosed. While I'm sitting here playing on the computer, I'm taking every one of these and sending them something back, since they're paying the postage. One of the kind companies that offered me yet another charge card is getting some nice MSD Ignition stickers that Summit sent me recently. One of the charities that's soliciting donations is getting a flier I got about earning extra money at home. The insurance company that sent me an application for extended nursing home coverage for a loved one is getting the request for donations that the charity sent.

This is really giving me a warm fuzzy feeling and I think I'm gonna get creative and start saving up some stuff so the returns can really be appropriate...............maybe like sending the unsolicited credit card offers the unsolicited get out of debt now junk mail. The other thing I like about it is, as somebody pointed out in the e mail I originally got on it, this gives the Post Office more revenue. They get to collect on all these postage paid return envelopes. I'm thinking we get 30 or 40 of these things a week around here and it seems like a shame to keep throwing em all out. I believe I could generate an extra 10 buck or so a week in revenue for the USPS and if we all started doing it............who knows, could amount to millions. I might even print up some Scream and Fly logos and suggest they log on when they don't have anything better to do at work than send out junk mail.

How 'bout some idea's here? Who should we send what back to?

What happens when everyone starts doing it and the companies have to hire another shift of folks just to 'check their junk mail'?

I want to think that they'd have no choice but to increase every card holders interest just to balance out.

Just think DD, more jobs, more revenue for the USPS, and as a side benefit, helping the enviroment. I think all these bulk mailers are probably set up much better to handle recycling than all us small generators are.

I'm not restricting my efforts just to credit card companies, but to anybody that sends me an unsolicited offer. The credit card offers are a very small percentage actually. There are people wanting to re finance my house for me and lower my rate, (I don't have a mortgage) charities, people who want to clean up my credit, (it's never needed cleaning) want to help me get out of debt, (don't need that either) want to offer me a way to work at home to earn extra money, (that would take away from ScreamandFly time) want to lower my long distance rate, offer me a better cell phone, increase the size of my penis as well as my bust size. Sears wants me to join the Craftsman Tool Club and they want to work on all my appliances, regardless of where I bought em. Several local companies would like to take over my lawn service contract. I won 3 expense paid vacations in the last couple of weeks and several people wanted to buy my time share last month (which I don't have) Several car dealers want to show me how to save money on my next car and of course will have me pre approved if I'll just send in their form. Victoria's Secret sends me stuff frequently, but I'm too old to start cross dressing now and they won't send me a postage paid envelope to respond with. AmericaOnline wants me to try them free, but I'm already payin' em, so I don't know what to do. The Electric Company wants to be my gas supplier, the gas company wants to talk about my long distance service and the phone company wants to sell electricity. I don't know what to do besides send em each other's offers.

Credit card companies figure their rates on what the market will bare rather than overhead. I think the card members are safe from seeing a mail induced increase.

I have done that before, and you can put about 3 sheets in one I think...so I stuff the original envelope in there too. Why should I carry it to the trash? Bad enough I have to wear out my shredder in that junk. And don't forget that they get a great rate on the junk postage while we pay more for stamps. Just like to phone dialing machines...that you can't call back:rolleyes:

Moved into a new office once, and the new phones started ringing like crazy the minute they were turned on. When asked how they got the number, they kept saying we were on their preffered customer list/database! Right. Why should I pay for a sevice if they are selling it to others? If I pay, it's my private service. Why bother to have white pages then...

I have been doing that for awhile now. Lots of fun, I don't know if I would have given up my MSD stickers though. lol

If you wanna really mess with them, throw some scrap metal in there.... They pay by weight... It's pretty cool if you can send them back an envelope that weighs four pounds....

i think that is a great idea, i am also soooooo sick of the junk mail(bulk mail as they say at the post office) and all the spam on the internet, along w/ the pop-ups!!! anything we can do to aggravate them is worth a bit of hassle! :D

Raceman, this one does'nt really have to do
with junk mail but with the junk that comes in my bills.
It seems all of my creditors want to sell me
something, (Sears being the worst) so when
I send them a payment I include all of the ads
that came with the bill.
Seems only fair since I had to search for the bill, they can search for the payment check.
Plus I dont have to haul all the ads to the trash.:D

I don't know if this would Fly, but it would be a Scream if it did.
Tape the postage paid envelope to a heavy box, say a bad crank. Would the USPO accept that?

Okay, okay, let go of my arm!:D

If it means job security for a bunch of folks, then what the heck. :)

I agree with Revinrude, I am tired of getting advertisements with my credit card bills. My telephone company has one that is in the middle of the 7 page bill. And at the bottom it tells you not to return it with payment, well they have been getting it back from me for about a year or so. Why should I have to jump through hoops for them, I already have to put my account number on every check I send these idiots, or they f*ck it up.
I may have to try Raceman's idea.

My wife and I have cats, lots of em,every Christmas when we clean litter boxes I put the poop in cardboard boxes wrap em up and put them in the back of my pick up and go to Wal-Mart, the're gone every time. I just wish I could be around when they open up they're stolen presents. I've been doing this for about 10 years now ever since I had some stuff borrowed from the back of my truck. After reading this I noticed that it sounded like we only clean um out at Christmas, not true, the rest of the year Waste Management carries the turds away. I only donate cat poop to thieves at Christmas time.you know to help the needy and all that.

:D :D LOL:D That is great!:D :D

I used to burn all the junk mail to heat the house, but I don't have a wood stove here. Even then it makes a mess of ashes.

Straycat, great idea. I don't own a cat, but I have a dog!!!:D

Sometimes I am real nice, and I support my local area here. You would be amazed at what will go away if you put it out by the road with a free sign on it.:) :) :)

Even scrap steel, they pull up with the rusty truck and grab it! Sometimes they leave beer cans for me....;)
