Considering taking one of my v4 crossflows to Racer/Al Stoker for the "9 pages" treatment. But I want to know what, if anything, I will lose in the way of easy recreational boating ownership/reliability/starting, etc... And can I use pump gas? Or will compression be too high for that?

I've built enough car engines to know that I don't like full blown race motors for street use, (1200+ rpm idle, no bottom end, solid lifters, short lifespan, etc...) So how _racy_ is the "9 pages" mod to v4 crossflows? I'm prepared to walk away and not do it, if it's too racy for recreational boating use.

I don't think the 9 pages treatment is really for "recreational" use, but Al should be able to do some work for you and perk it up.

My buddy had a 135 that had some work done to it, and that sucker was pretty wicked. The guy who owned it had it on a Hydrostream Viper, and it would get it, I think it ran pretty close to 70, which in the day, with the prop technology was pretty good.

They sure sound good strung out too.

Post some pics! What all did you do to the motor? Did you monkey with the flywheel any?
