One of the races that Parkinson couldn’t quite put together in RIO .
Another was the Sydney harbour race.
He really did have the vision of world wide powerboat racing .
Simple fact was, UIM simply couldn’t keep up with him .

Rio could work, Sydney harbour too rough
The could dredge the lake in the middle of the GP track in Melbourne, perfect place.
OZ had a few local F1 races there in the 80's but it was not deep enough to be able to float a boat vertically.

WAS THE LOGISTICS that were the problem Pilgrim. Air transport was far too expensive in the FONDA years. Was there in “SURFERS” on the lake at the Bond university. (Jorgenson won) when we had a trial GP as an alternative to Sydney Harbour.

Spent the weekend farting about with the Riva Race Boats . Next up are the celebrated KEIKERINI drives.

When does creativity become detrimental to performance and reliability?

I want to drain some of my lower unit lube from the crankcase, said Cees vander Veldon to me.

That might not be the exact words he said, but his idea was to lower the lube level, below the lower unit’s top drain plug. I do not recall if he explained to me his logic. But in my recollection, I think Cees thought less lube, would reduce the lube’s viscosity resistance to flow. Therefore the Drive Shaft could spin easier with less resistance.

However my concern was the drive shaft’s upper bearing. That the bearing would not receive the adequate amount of needed lubrication, with the probability of the lube fill level being below the mounted bearing. My thinking is being there is no dip-stick, it’s not an exact science to achieve the desired lube level.

Therefore I went to Roy Ridgell’s Como office upstairs and informed him of what Cees wanted to do. I do not know what became of that situation and its outcome. But I do admire Cees for trying to acquire an advantage over the competition.

Here is champion crew chief, Chad Knaus talking about pushing the rules envelope.

Everyone pushed rules to the limit, after all, weren’t rules meant to be broken, or stretched to the absolute limit. We all wanted “an edge”.
As a last resort the opposition would quote that most misused adage of all time “ in the spirit of the sport” ( or game ). that usually meant that all other avenues of protests had failed.476641

In 1970 after i flipped in Havasu. We all went to Vegas to celebrate. I couldn’t hardly walk, so Pruett had me buy a 100 dollar pair of schooled and tooled high heeled sh-t kickers. These helped enormously but Didnt alleviate the pain in my lower back. I didnt have a belt with me so he “ Borrowed this belt from a good friend of his, for the life in me i cant remember who it was . Might have been John Schubert .
Upshot of all this is, fifty years on , i still have it. I know it was a kinda long borrow , but if the owner steps up, i will return the said belt.

Well, the fat lady did sing in the end. The Don threw his dollies and Kenny has finally stopped whinging. But lets be honest Jesus H, himself could have been President and Kenny still wouldnt have liked him if he was a Republican.
Good to know the rest of the world is just as miserable and unhappy with their governing body as we are here. You cant satisfy all of the people all of the time.
Be nice if people could accept the majority verdict without breaking the law, but i guess its the age we live in.
My sainted mother had her own set of rules which were far more important than anything a mere government could enforce. I still think theres a lot of truth in the “Spare the rod” theory. No, i am not a sadistic parent. Yes, i did help to bring up five kids who in turn produced eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. All of which turned into honest, hard working and law abiding citizens. The old biddy Couldnt have been far out in her teachings.

Parkinson was the first promotor to organise a truly WW F1powerboat race series. He did it first with the Canon series and later with the Fonda series, which became the benchmark for all competition powerboating. He did have help from People like Charlie Shepherd, Claude Bladinaire and Fred Hauenstien. But in the end it was mostly his own efforts that improved the sport.
all this he did in spite of the efforts by the then head of the UIM, Rolf Frohling. He tried to oust Parkinson for years, took him nine years before he finally managed it!

Well, well, well, looks like Hamilton had a bit more luck today. He just won the Turkish GP.
THE LIKELY CONTENDERS WHO WOULD OUTDRIVE HIM IF THEY ONLY HAD THE CAR all kept spinning out. Verstappen four times, Bottas five times. Leclerc twice . But the mercedes of Lewis Hamilton just kept going on and on. He did the last 54 laps on the same set of tyres. Course, the win was nothing to do with Lewis, it was just the car.
Coincidence that he’s now a seven times world champion. More pole positions than anyone else. More outright wins than anyone else.
I dont ever remember any race driver in any motorised sport that didn't get the acclaim for his ability. Never before has anyone ever claimed it was the car, not the driver.
In motorised sport throughout the world since competitions began, has the machine been the winner , not the driver.
Fact remains, no cars any good unless it has a driver, and to win, you need the best driver, which mercedes have.

It seems it has been an argument ongoing, with ambiguous support more for the driver's skill or it was the vehicles undisputed superiority. One side will say put another driver in the winner's vehicle, and you will get the same winners result.

Then a lot of opinions will state it was 60% driver's skill and 40% vehicle's capability, or vice a versa.
The sliding scale of subjectivity is more art than science. But makes for interesting conversation.

Albeit champion drivers lean to, the scale favoring a greater percentage toward their skill level.
And engineers and mechanics might lean to the technology, being the higher percentage for winning.

Another interesting slant on the world of motorsport Roy.
Afraid i have to take you to task here. Any motor of any description can only perform as well as its designers and manufacturers make it. It may have the ability to balance things out in performing , it doesnt have a brain, Neither does it have any level of skill or ability.
A machine will give 100% of its performance all the time, a driver has to go way beyond that. ITS CALLED THE HUMAN FACTOR.
Thats where the equation turns to worms, machines can give no more than their maximum output,
Simple fact is, some drivers are better than others regardless of the machine they drive.
This is where speculation comes into the equation, and opinions .
Point i was making was that never before in the history of the sport has the machine been given the credit for the win. Its ALWAYS been the driver ( until now).

In Fi its always been the designers. wherever Ade Newey went the team was successful.
When red bull had the winning streak with Vettel and Webber nobody complained . same at Williams. not forgetting Ferrari !!!! Suddenly the cars no good, nothing about the driver dropping off form there. .

Beg to differ Pilgrim. How come in any two car team, theres always one driver superior to his team mate.
Ive seen good drivers bring home the bacon in a crappy car .
Plus a good driver always make the car look better than it really is.
Or do you believe its just good luck and a decent car that enables a driver to win seven world titles and 94 Grand Prix races. And Schumacher wasnt a great driver, he just had good cars.?
Turkish GP was a race that sorted the wannabes from a champion !

I made a hard top for the 1907 sRolls Royce Silver Ghost that Rich Luhr commissioned. It never quite looked right, especially towing the wing, so i chucked it under the bench, where it has stayed until now. It was in the concept graveyard, along with the “MALIBUSTANG”.

One of the most expensive bits of string i ever bought in my life. Wooden toggle is missing but i kept the bit of string. theres mitigating circumstances and a tale to be told here!
As a Merc dealer, you are required to stock a vast array of spare parts covering all models. one of those requirements was a pull cord to wind round the fly wheel , swift tug and voila, you’re away.
Cost of said bit of string was a kings ransome. About twenty times what it was actually worth.
Ok, so it was waxed and had a wooden toggle, couple of quid on a good day, Most Mercs, from a thirty five up to a hundred, all had a pull cord behind the front cover. They were long lasting, ive had this particular one nearly sixty years.

Merc still packaged a back up pull cord stored in a pouch behind the cowl faceplate well after 1976. I think the idea of pull cords vanished with the introduction of the T3 V6.

Thats Mike Bellamy, looks like HTS , the one he and Jimmy Booker and Eddie Chater drove to victory in the London Monte Carlo race. I will ask Christian Toll for confirmation. He is well into historic off shore racing .

Always makes me smile when i see pictures of George Clooney and his wife in their villa on Lake Como.
I think to myself, i was there long before you Georgie boy, my friend Roy Ridgell and his wife and family lived in a villa on lake Como just up the road a piece.

Havent found out who the two in the background are yet, but i have ambition. Been a couple of suggestions, but nothing that im happy with.
I always thought HTS, was a MAGNUM or an APACHE that Mike bought cheap,(as he usually did), but apparently its a SHEAD design.
What i can tell you, if Bellamy ever puts his mind to anything, it will happen, and if he tells you something, it will be a fact. he’s one of those annoying folk that are never wrong.
HTS was put together for one race , and one race only, The London/Monte Carlo
wasn’t even quick, had workhorse diesels that were built to last the distance. If you don’t have problems, you dont lose time fixing them. Simple philosophy that worked over the fifteen legs.
Legend has it that nobody remembers who came second. On this occasion I seem to remember it as the Avenger of Pascoe Watson and “Bendy” ( Brian Hendicot) with Mercury outboards that came a close second.? But I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.

Got some news and no news, Bellamy still has all his marbles but is using a lot of medicine. He doesnt remember who the guys behind him were , but the handshake with Roy , is for the loan of props which gave him the extra couple of knots to lift the world diesel record. Remember “ Bootsie” was the fast boy with diesels around that time. Mike also confirmed that HTS was an “APACHE” .which i have always thought it was.

...the HTS 33 footer was a Shead designed, diesel powered deep-vee that was later raced with the name down the sides "APACHE". it was not the american, florida made Apache. it had quite a few owners & powered by three or four different brands of diesels in its life.

13 Win Season not for L.H. this year.

~~~
Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton has tested positive for coronavirus, and will miss at least one race as a result -- meaning he will not be able to match the record for most wins in a single season. He's said to have mild symptoms and is otherwise fit and well, according to his Mercedes team, but will miss the upcoming Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain. Hamilton - who picked up his 11th win of the season at Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix- was trying to match the 13-win record previously set by legendary drivers Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel .
The season will end with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 13.
I think a lot of guys in the states, are like me. They never heard of this award.
~~~

Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton and England cricketer Stuart Broad have been named as the first two nominees for the 2020 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
The BBC is staggering the announcements of the six contenders up for the main honour at a show at Media City in Salford on December 20, with Hamilton and Broad so far taking top billing.

It was announced on Tuesday morning that Hamilton had tested positive for coronavirus and will miss this weekend’s Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain, but he is favourite with bookmakers to clinch a second SPOTY crown.

Well, I suppose that’s the only way to stop him. Lock him in a hotel bedroom for two weeks
You only have to look at the list of previous winners to appreciate the magnitude of this award.
It covers ALL sports WORLDWIDE with special award for overseas performers.
Its the public votes that decide the winner. Nothing else.
Hamilton has never been the most popular sportsman, although he has won the award once before.
This in spite of the fact that he has won more victories than anyone else. Won more pole positions than any other driver. Equalled Schumacher with seven world titles. Vettel keeps spouting off about him not being as good as Schumacher, but he’s done it quicker and scored more podiums than the best. If he had been born in Germany, he would have been accepted as the most complete driver.
Arguments abound. Vettell. Was never as Good as Schumacher ————— Schui was not as Good as Senna————— Clarke was better than Senna, Moss was best of all. Goes all the way back to the start of F1. Fact remains Hamilton is right up there and just keeps on winning, with no sign of slowing down . Not even anyone in the wings waiting to be the pretender to his throne, he’s outdriven the lot.
WITH A LITTLE LUCK OF COURSE.

If any of you old farts out there would like anything you have ever seen on the TRICKS site , just PM me and make me an offer. Sammy James did and walked off with a beautiful Radial engine concept .
Even a SILVER GHOST for Sale on there . Was hoping to move before christmas , realtors and Lawyers blame COVID for their inability to get a wriggle on , fact is, they have always been straphangers and procrastinators to try and justify their outrageous fees. Just like dentists and vetinarys . If you got teeth and pets you need deep pockets.

The best to your firesale of Christmas gifts.

Returning back to the drama on the race tracks and courses. I do believe Romain Grosjean, is thankful he will be spending another Christmas Day with his family. In fact in an interview after his horrific fiery crash, Grosjean mention whilst he was in the cockpit surrounded by fire, that wanting to see his kids again was his main motivation to escape the flaming confines.

I remember Indy car drivers in interviews back in the 1960's & 70's, mentioning there greatest worry was a fiery crash, and not escaping the wreak in due time.
A watery grave is probably what occupies boat racers, in the back of their minds. I never had that kind of conversation with the boat drivers, I knew, nor did any of them mention that was a concern for them. But it has crossed my mind, as probably the greater concern racing on water.

Sequence of some of Romain's thoughts, stuck inside the cockpit:

I do not want to end up like Niki Lauda.
I am stuck.
I am going to die.
Muscles relax, peace with myself, I am dying.
For my kids I cannot die, I got to see them.
My hands are in the fire.
I am on fire.

Got clonked on the head as a kid ( you only feel a jolt to your body when the brain shuts down so I didnt know where i was hit ) once on a river bank, went in the water and woke up on the bottom a few seconds later, was all very calm, I could just see some light from the surface, swam up and climbed out, feeling very groggy.

Tried it again the other day in a raceboat as I used my helmet to launch another boat over me, I was conscious but brain shut down even though there is video I cant remember anything till they towed me to the shore even though I was talking to them, they asked me where i was, I couldnt remember till in the ambulance going for mri.
They asked me which turn the accident was and I thought 2 turns back, couldnt believe where it was till they showed me the vid.

This wonderful lady was „DEN MOTHER“ to the whole Mercury team. GG (Or Willabee more likely) would rent a large house in Havasu. Ken and Molly Balou would look after the whole team‘.
Molly wasnt too shabby in a drag boat either, she would run around the 120 mark in the twin Mercury powered Ron Jones Hydro, i got to know her through Kathy Flo Smith and Billy Don Pruett. She was also chief timekeeper for Mercury on the point. Ask any old Mercury racer about Molly and he will just smile, everyone loved Molly and Kenny.

That little sprint Molinari was really fast with the 1000 BP. Twister. Would often outrun the 1250 BP. But they all had larger boats.
Sprint boat came after the 17 footer. Was the fact that the little Schultze with the 1000Bp made the 18 foot Molinari obsolete.
I sold it to Bob Spalding , he went around Europe winning everything, after that all tunnels got considerably smaller. Shakey only ever built small tunnels, as did Freddie after Bills demise.

Was a bad day for me, one of the lows in my career. I had watched Shakey Bill disappear beneath the waves , yet here we were racing over the very spot where he went down. We had been friends for years and raced each other forever . My heart just was not in it. Yes, i did have the quickest boat there ‘ did not like wind at all, either me or the boat (less than 16 foot with a 1000 BP TWISTER on windermere , blowing a hooley) These are what i would call “MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES “, GG didnt agree. He took the boat and motor and sacked me on the spot.
Thats when i told him i didnt need either him or his motor, and shove it where the sun dont shine. it did get a little heated . We made it up again, but things were never quite the same until the COSWORTH WAS BORN, then we got back to being as we had been Status Quo was restored .
Told him neither Bob or Percy was as good as me, but he was getting two for the price of one. Fact he had the hots for Gilly P helped decide the issue.

Pretty women in the pits at a boat race. And Gillian/Jillian Percival was one of the prettiest. And Cees’ sister-in-law Honey is also in that category. And James Beard’s girlfriend too (but those are other stories for later).

We are at a race in Auronzo Italy, circa 1971 I do believe. I think it was for the European championship. So the local community had some festive activity in conjunction with the boat race, which if I remember included music and dancing.

So at this evening event before next day’s race, I and Honey, Bob, Tom,Jillian and others attended. Unbeknownst to the English speaking contingent, they were going to select a beauty queen that evening. Jillian and I am not sure how it transpired, but apparently became a contestant. A younger Italian girl was selected by the judge(s).

So I am just standing there not thinking much about the situation. And Jillian (maybe with a little disappointment about not winning) looked straight into my eyes, and asked “do you think I am pretty?” I am a teenager, and this beautiful blond woman asks me this. I am flabbergasted, and I retreat into a silent shyness. In my mind there is no doubt Jillian is pretty.

I must have looked like a deer caught in the headlights. And thankfully Tom Percival must of saw my dilemma, and Tom said to Jillian, “of course you are pretty.” Thanks Tom and I will pay you back later between heat races, when I repair your malfunction kill-switch.

Dave Burgess was Shakeys carpenter/joiner/boatbuilder. After he died on Windermere. Freddie had Burgess build the Miles Boats, including one for me and Bill Brown (Venus) to house the Cosworth BDG.. Dave finally went on his own to build Burgess boats. Thats how come the Shakespeare and the Miles look alike———thats because they were !

There was a lot of “ENTERTAINING” went on at the annual Earl’s Court boat show, most evenings were spent trying to chase up possible leads. If the prospective purchaser happened to be of the opposite gender then that was an added bonus.. after an evening of merriment with the consumption of much. Fodder and Liqueur, Tom would always give the conquered heroine a postcard sized photo of himself signed “fondest memories Tom.”. But that was back in the day, when men were men, and the word P.C. I always thought if yesteryear actors portrayed Tom Percival & Bob Spalding, then it would be David Niven & Gary Grant.

Tom seemed to me to have the mannerisms of David Niven.
And Bob had a charm about him, that women liked, just as they like Gary Grant.

Uppsala Sweden the summer of 1971, is where things changed for Tom. I believe it was at that race, where word apparently got back to England, about a certain brunette. I vaguely remember what she looked like.

Hearsay — I do not remember who told me, but that episode is why Gillian from then on was at every race that Tom attended.

And every race that I attended until 1973, when Tom was there Gillian was next to him.
Years later I saw both of them at Havasu. Even very pretty woman, like Gillian, don't want their husband to go astray.

Tom and Bob were two loose canons on the worlds race circuit. After Chas went with them when the Hodges / Percival race was formed , he did his best to keep a touch of decorum , failed miserably !
Most of the tales that evolve around the pair are absolutely hilarious , not an ounce of malice in the pair of them . Both were family men and close friends . I have a book ful of stories, but, they have to remain untold.

If a publisher does not accept your manuscript, then there at least two other options. And within those two options are a lot of companies to choose from.

1) Self publishing.
2) Print on Demand.

You know what Roy, writing a book about something you have loved all your life comes easy. I only wrote about the people and places i knew personally. None of it is here say, its all true. plus, i only write when i feel like it.
Im not an accomplished author, just a guy with a lot of friends, with the same interests which happens to be power boat racing. Mainly closed course circuit racing at the highest level, along with the best in the business from all five continents. Constructors , drivers , their families and the lives they lead .
I have a big mouth and a strange sense of loyalty that i dont really understand myself. If i see a wrong then ill try and put it right. If someone or something pisse me off , i have a go at them. Fallen out at one time or another with most commodores of race clubs. UIM officials in particular. Drivers in particular, if they were driving like a twat, i told em so.
Point I’m trying to make is this. I started on a book, mainly about me and my experiences. I have taken my time. Never needed to hurry. It wasnt urgent or important. Wont ever be a best seller , though theres more drama and romance in it than any Tom Clancy, David Baldacci or Stephen King novels. So you can see where im coming from when i tell you i dont give a flying fart when or who or even if it ever gets published . A bit like a river. Comes out of the ground and gradually grows , gets a bit faster, and eventually rolls out into the sea in its own sweet time, one way or another .
Good thing is, my youngest daughter Sam just bought me an all singing and dancing , state of the art APPLE I PAD, with a magical keyboard or some such thing. Even i can punch out a thousand words a day in between making concepts , moving house, dodging COVID . Plus FUJIMO can always help me out with piccies if i get short. Or , on a bad day i can call on Willabee for the odd caustic comment now and again.
My kids and grandkids dont push me to publish (they all know better than that) but without exception they always ask, hey dad/grandad, hows the book coming along. Always tell em the same thing JES FINE , BY JR.

Seen that picture quite a few times before Pilgrim. Taken just after OMC started throwing money about like confetti. Hodges got enough dinero out of the old firm to equip a workshop with all brand fire new machinery ,plus a new carriage for hauling boats , and a double decker trailer. Add to this Bob and Percy and a talented but unpredictable Swede . Add the cash together that OMC paid them as individuals, you have the makings of a very presentable race team, which is what the Hodges/Percival race team was.
Tom died, a week after after a freak accident with Bocca, on the river in the town of liege .
Bob died as a direct result from injuries received at the race In Seville. He never fully recovered, was never the same man again.
Hodges continued to build boats , draw up new designs , got married (AGAIN), and retired to raise quarter horses in florida. Had another nipper , a girl again. Really dropped off the roller coaster for a while . Got divorced and moved to Australia. Occasionally surfaces, but rarely.
Last i heard ,he and Brownie were going to get together again. Last time they did was at cougars some forty/fifty years ago ! So endeth todays bit of nostalgic nonsense.

OK, here goes, i could wind up spending the rest of my life in the pokey for what i am about to say. might not even get published, all depends on Greg and „“THE COMMITTEE“‘ I am sick to my armpits of listening to all the crap thats being spouted under the guise of BLM !!!!! BLACK LIVES MATTER.
“ No doubt about it , black lives do matter, same as white lives , Chinks and Pinks. So its an undisputed fact that ALL lives matter.
So heres my beef. What in the name of all thats holy does tearing down statues THAT HAVE BEEN STANDING HUNDREDS OF YEARS , have to do with anything. What purpose does it achieve? All happened long before any of us here today were born.
Same as i was born white , Lewis Hamilton wasn’t—-so what? Sod all either of us could do about it, grow up, get on with life, instead of bitching and moaning „Nobody likes me Cos I’s black‘. Its nonsense , .
You managed to scare the crap out of the heads of the entertainment business with demands of not enough Black people compared to white. Well
by my reckoning there are far more blacks on my TV screen than whites. Dont matter whether its the soaps or the weather, newscasters or chefs, whites are now in the minority, thats because of all this PC nonsense .
ACTING AND ABILITY NO LONGER COMES INTO THE EQUATION. Its a case of he who protestath loudest !!!
Hamilton protests that there are no black drivers, wonder if it ever occurred to him that the reason could be that none of them are good enough???
Same with swimmers— theres no black swimmers — i have no idea why, doesn't matter anyway. Its a fact.
SIMPLE EVERYDAY FOLK LIKE ME SHOULD NOT BE BEATEN INTO SUBMISSION, SIMPLY BECAUSE WE DONT AGREE.
Time all these BLM idiots who are inciting riots , tearing down statues and discontented with their own lives were brought to task, same as i would be , even though im a „“PRIVILEGED WHITE“ person.
Lewis, You did a good job, not because of your colour, but because of your ability. At the minute
, all this knee bending businesses isn’t doing you any favours at all. But you are doing a good job of alienating yourself from the paying public.

Here endeth todays sermon.

Shouldn’t need to explain to you Roy the reason i would complain about silly or bad driving, you’ve been round enough.
In my opinion only—— Bob was the better driver of the pair. Tom did have his good days and was good. Bob was consistently good . If Percy had „“A LAPSE OF CONCENTRATION „. Bob would be sure to let him know, friend or not.

Jackie..Do you remember the “Rivers of Blood” speech from 1968?

do you mean dear old Enoch???? Offered to pay the air fare to all coloured immigrants to go back home. Warned of “rivers of blood”— but of course, he was laughed out of parliament as a racist!!

Bought a new lathe today . chap had a couple very interesting motor cars.
First is an Al CApone 1930 Packard straight eight .
Second is a 1932 CADDILAC V8 in superb ORIGINAL condition. has never been touched or restored . low mileage . Must be the only one in the world still totally untouched and the same as when it was sold 89 years ago .

Was attacked by Murphy our pet pussy. 2;30 am , she suddenly launched herself at me, caught me full in the face whilst asleep and ripped into my face. I was never a ‚pretty boy“ . Murph has not improved my chances .

Pretty sure it is from one of my 'old' Powerboat & Waterskiing magazines.
Funny how it 'magically' appeared on another thread about 2 hours after I posted it here late last night at about 11pm (Toronto, Ontario time).

what did I post?

Pilgrim—— You just made me feel so much better !
I can fix that...
Americas Cup, your lad on the back foot but he is a fighter, will make a great story to go from here to the top.
The AC is famous for major competitive advances during the event, as opposed to F1 that has rules locked in so no changes

Slight problem here Pilgrim—— Americas cup is every four years. Its ok all the while theres a build up to the event. But once its over , nobody gives a flying fart for the next four years. Especially if you didnt win.

So Hamilton won the SPOTY Award, means that the BLM parade continues unabated.

The new America's Cup race boats fly, compared to the older 20th century boats.

Not unlike the speed comparison of a V bottom versus a Tunnel, with the same horsepower.

They have gone from sails to foils though, speeds increased from 20mph to 70+mph. Add a bit of electric, harness the sun and wind and who knows how far we can go. Just need to get free of the water and take it from there.

Have you ever seen an America's Cup type boat do, the equivalent of a barrel roll?
Hollywood will show you.

That's what I like about cameo appearances of boats getting on the big movie screen or TV.
Like this movie or the Miami Vice show, its great public exposure to a larger audience than the standard boat crowd.

By the way, I highly recommend this movie Thomas Crown Affair. Especially the ending in the museum, it is funny and clever.

Think this one is around four years old. From the time they went from twin sponsons back to a single configuration.

How about this for the latest piece of „“POLITICALLY CORRECT“ bloody nonsense.
Theres a drama about to be shown of Henry the eighth‘s wife ANNE BOLYN , part has been played by a black actress, either the BBC is terrified of all this damn nonsense—-OR . They have cast GEORGE CLOONEY as MALCOLM X And Tom cruise as Muhamid Ali.
Surely it cant get any dafter than this , Or can it????????

jackiewilson
12-23-2020, 04:08 AM
Yup, its getting dafter still———Uncle bens rice has been withdrawn from the counter sales , along with aunt Jemimahs recipe book and sponge bakes .
Uncle Toms cabin has been withdrawn from the library.
Oscars for „“gone with the wind“ been scrapped .
Allocated spaces for Formula one drivers reads , 2 Blacks—-2 Whites—-2 french——-2 Italians —-2 Americans—-2 Brazilians——2 Swedes—- 2 Spanish——- 2 South American’s —— 2 Australians and 2 black reserves because its grossly unfair to have so few coloured drivers .[REGARDLESS OF ABILITY}.
HEMINGWAY AND STEINBECK had black parents .
Oscar wilde was not gay. {just a little misunderstood, but ahead of his time}
THERE NEVER WAS A HOLOCAUST OR PEARL HARBOUR, ITS PROPAGANDA !
Is it any wonder i think im the only sane person left on earth?

Hey Mark Rathermell, after much help from my daughter Sam and husband Clive, looks like we cracked it.
Heres the Valleyfield section, of “THE BOOK”, ITS FIVE PAGES OF SOME THREE HUNDRED , unabridged and certainly unedited script, ENJOY, let me know what you think.

Thought i might chuck in the”BILLY DON PRUETT” chapter, just to get a feeler what the boating fraternity might think about THE BOOK.
But on reflection , decided against it.
Also thought i would be a lot closer to finishing the Damn thing.
Due to mitigating circumstances , ie; Covid , Moving house and old age, im still at only 2/300 pages. Had hoped to be at 400+ by now. But you know thoughts big trouble !
Better to see how the VALLEYFIELD chapter is recieved first.
I can generally bat criticism out of the park, but this thing took up a large chunk of my spare time last year, dont like to think it might have been wasted .
So, if any of you old farts out there would take the time to read just one small chapter, i would appreciate it.
Yes , i do know that there are a rake of ex boatracers putting pen to paper, the likes of Ron Hill and Richie Powers. Thats stiff competition. Plus Brownies TALES FROM THUNDERBOAT ROW. BUT LETS PUT IT THIS WAY An old fart with ambition might just be a “contender”. We’ll see!
