Can you say backwards enema? Not to mention water doesn't compress too much inside the motor. That looks pretty expensive. Was the driver hurt?

No, he wasn't hurt. That was the good part. The pictures i have show everything a lot better. You can see the butterflies close as the thing noses into the water but the force throws the driver back into the throttle and you can see the butterflies go wide open just as the capsule goes under. Needless to say it didn;t do the motor any good. The capsule seperated and came to the top. He was plucked outa the river with a big grin on his face (just like a fuel boat driver)!!!!

It was within 200' of the launch. Its a twin screw. Notice at the lite his nose is in the air. It came down at the same attitude. It's supposed to leave flat even it is 4' out of the water. When the transom hit first it drove the front under. Here is a picture of how a twin screw is supposed leave.

Jack Barsh owner of Fullthrottleboats runs a V 8 jonrude in ODBA and comes out of the water at the tree , not quite as high-- .

I am surprised it could nose down without the power being cut! That has to be quite a power to weight ratio on those boats :D

is unbelieveable at 5000 to 6000 hp in the fuel motors. When the butt end slaps down hard at the launch it drives the front down even harder. Here's a picture of how it broke the boat in half.
Thats the front bobbin' around after the water settled.

i been around when Eddie Hill had no stickers on a curtis craft sittin on the deck eatin dunkin doughnuts in the early am drinkin coffee, as a 17 yr old kid and watched him take fuel hydros to the next level, kinda went away some years, my brother got me interested about 6 yrs ago in this cat who came along with the first twin screw rig, but i had no idea that these boys had got to this level! i want to go see this for myself! Augusta is i guess as close as it gets to n fla. I'M THERE!!!!!!! thanks for sharing! things get kinda one sided on this site, i seem to remember some talk of,,, oh those car engine boats only sound cool, they arn't really as bad as all that. have gotten to me for sure. Don't get me wrong I love gettin' my CLAMP ON out and running the **** out of it. But when it comes to pure speed and big balls fuel and alchol hydros are hard to beat. If they don't make your chest hurt standin' at half track when they wack the gas they're just another race boat. They can and do put on one hell of a show.
And Mr. Fun, just an example of how far they have come the guy that bought the Wildside boat made his license pass of 4.94 at 230+. He came from an 8 sec. boat sat down in the fuel boat made a half track pass then ran 4.9 the next day. They other fuel guys were just glad he had to license and not run for the money.

Might have kept him on top ..Backing too far off on a nose low landing is like puttin on the brakes ..might have helped him stuff..
Glad hes ok ..Hate seeing people get hurt , especialy when having fun..

Any thing that floats and runs on the stuff has my full attention. The first time I ever saw a T/F Hydro run back in the old days it scared me watching from the bank. No capsule, driver trying to hang on to that little steering wheel while the motor was trying to run up his ass. The new twin screw deals are neat. Some of the tuners are trying to use the clutch like the fuel cars do it. At the launch and while going down the course the clutch loads the engine to keep it at a constant rpm. It's a lot easier to tune for a narrow rpm band and that Gorilla Juice loves to pull a load. If they get it figured out watch for the gap to widen between alky & nitro et's and speeds.

I look for Jerry Kutz with Clinton Anderson to get that down within two years. I just hope I'm there to see the first low 4 or unimanageble(sp?) 4 second drag boat. I heard they tested at 4.8 since Phoenix.
