It's was a big deal to go over 100.
I remember my first time.
I was at the Miami Outboard club around 1963 and mentioned to Lou Kohler that I had never joined the "Century Club".
He grabbed my hand and said come with me. He took me to Dinny Phipps's SK boat and we jumped in to go over the 100 mark. As we got out, Lou said to me " you can never say you have not been over 100 again".
I still have not been over 100 in an outboard powered boat, but hopefully that will change in the near future, thanks to Rich Luhrs.

And Roger Hinsdale......

I have no affiliation whatsoever with Gar Wood- I found the article in a magazine I scanned and thought to post it here in the interest of sharing boat racing history.

And Roger Hinsdale......
Yes, and Roger. he is the guy that helps me get dressed, in the boat and points me out to the water.
When you get as old as I am, those things are really important.
