I recently picked up an SRX on ebay, the old 13-1/2x23 V4 version, but what the seller didn't mention is that the prop has been worked. I'm very happy that my bargain SRX has been modified but now I want to know who did the nice job on it?...I've got another stock SRX that could use a good clean up by them too!
The prop has been nicely polished, except for an inch or so from the trailing edge where it appears the bead blasted or ground texture has been left; I'm assuming this was to ensure the sharp edges don't get rounded over from polishing. The leading edge has been slightly sharpened and some extra cupping has been added as well a bit of tip cup.
Whatever shop worked this stamped it with their work order number "SB2092". The prop shipped from Delevan, New York and the only prop shop I know of around there that would match is the retired Spinelli Brothers.
Any clue as to who may have modified this?

Don't know if it was spinelli Bros. but the edge looks like it was put on intentionally when they worked the prop, as some shops will do. The original coating was 'black' teflon. The Best Shop for working the SRX is DAH supposedly as they actual invented that propeller.
Good snag and GL with it !

thanks, Nelson. If it needs some tuning its definately going to DAH, mabe stop there on the way to Castle Rock this summer, and who better to work it than the family that created it.
My original SRX, which is actually the SST-RX, still has all the teflon and is untouched and unused. my thru-hub SST still has the Teflon but the lower Fox river has been doing a good job at polishing it so far.
Anyone have any props worked over by Spinelli? from what I've read here they were excellent.

The Spinelli props I have are all signed by "Spinelli Bros" but they are actual Spinelli props not just a worked over one. The 31 pitch 4 blade I have has some unique bead blasting on it as well. It wasn't a spot that was left unpolished but rather intentionally blasted to give better bite.
31 on the right.

So does the bead blasting give more bite because it can slip more?

I think we were one of the original prop shops to do the bead blasting, (Kinsey's Prop Shop). We only did this in the cup area. Started back in the mid 70's... And the first v4 OMC prop was called "Silver Streak", we had to actually burn the paint off before polishing!

Both of mine are the 2nd version that have the black teflon, that te and was just as tough to remove. I bought some gel paint stripper from the local hardware store and it ate that teflon like it was nothing...just dont get in on your skin
