If anyone has never attended, or is on the fence about attending an outboard drag race, there could not be a better place than Eustis, Florida for your first event!!!
The course is laid out along a 1/4 mile of lakefront park, beautiful shaded viewing areas on the short and middle and a nice area to view on the top end of the track. If water is your thing then there is an entire section roped off the other side of the track as well, for all types of boats to raft togeater and enjoy the show.
I have personally been involved with the race for three years now and it only gets bigger and better every year. There is not a better bunch of guys putting on this race than Dorsey Frabbot and crew.
If you are thinking about racing, here is food for thought. 1st, 2nd and 3rd all get PAID, at the close of racing on sunday, no waiting, no bs.
If drag is not your thing there is also a rather large showing of ss45, ss60, 120's and MOD U, and Supersport always puts on a fantastic show.
Come on out! Bring the family, enjoy yourself, you wont be disappointed, its the best free entertainment I know......

about comming down to the races. Got a good friend that races a 120 boat there and he is after me hard to go. Kind of a long haul for us about 12-13 hours. Guess we will decide a little closer to time to go.

I missed it last year but went the year before. They had round-d-round racing that year and that was pretty cool too. I will be there this year. :D

Eustis is one of the top fan/spectator friendly venues in Central Florida.

Besides rafting up on the water, you can sit on al long seawall, on a bench in the sun or under a shade tree and enjoy restaurants right next to the course.

The drag course is about 30-50 feet from the spectator areas. Come feel the spray!

Jeff, I hate to say it but Jack and I are going to hit them with a little bit of double trouble... long story short I'm going to run a megaphone motor and SPRAY the shizit out of it. I thought I could stay away from it but to no avail. Keep in touch if you get things together maybe we could caravan out to Texas. Ray Leach

It is indeed a shame that the members of the ODBA that scheduled the Mt. Pleasant race didn't have the forethought to check the dates for the Eustis race which has been held the same weekend for at least 3 of the last 4 years it has been run, even before it was an APBA National Championship event. It would have let everyone including those in a points race with the ODBA have a chance at a National title. A simple computer check of the APBA schedule would have been all that was needed to see this race was a GO as it was scheduled LONG before the ODBA scedule was ever released, But mistakes and errors do happen. I am sure had the committee responsible for the ODBA schedule known the Eustis date things would have been different as I know the ODBA nor those promoting the Eustis race didn't intentionally create a conflict. I am sure there will be those that are torn between which race to attend. As one of the sponsors of this event we cannot say enough about why you should make this race. IT IS THE ONLY APBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP OUTBOARD DRAG RACE FOR 2003. I can say that before we entered in to helping with sponsorship this was one of the best planned , best promoted races of the season, thus our reason for helping as a sponsor. Last year this race was above all FUN. Fun to watch and fun to race in. I sincerely hope any of you who are closer to Eustis or want a chance at a National title, or just want to go see or compete in a very good event, get to make this race. Hope to see you there. If your an ODBA member that can't make it, maybe next time, If you decide to come I assure you , you will be made to feel very welcome and you surely won't regret it.

last year was the last weekend of the month, APBA was the weekend prior to that. ODBA races are typically on the same weekend of the month from year to year for that race site. As soon as I saw that the APBA race was going to be that weekend, I knew that there would be a conflict. ODBA has been racing in Mt. Pleasant for 7 years now. ODBA has several races every year, but APBA only has one! Last year at Eustis, I had to join APBA for ONE race. I was told before the race that we only had to join the local club for $25 dollars. Not true, full membership, or don't race. It's not worth it to me to pay the entry fee, the fuel fee and join APBA for one race when I'd probably only get enough back to pay for part of the weekend. And I live close enough to drive back and forth. If there were more races during the year, that would be another story. One thing though, I did learn a lot from racing there, make sure the scales are zeroed before you weigh before the race and after, otherwise you can get screwed over 1 lb! Good luck, Jay Smith!!!
