interesting, I got a new set of sticks, most cerntally can push one 150 yds. it would be an honor to whack a few with you guys, I joined the classic race boat association, planning to pay some dues and volunteer in March, and should have a running vintage circle boat by fall. hoping to spread the interest amoungst the greater SNF Brethern. (I'm a very good driver, not a good speller) fun out

Glad to hear Doreen will be fully fit for the tourney Rich.
Tell her the nearest to pin prize will be on the short number two (about 70 yards for the ladies).
Betty Baker from APOPKA will be the organizing secretary, already on the ball.
Will be a few tees, ball marker, and a few goodies to mark the occasion.

Rolling back the years----44years seemed like yesterday, John, you have mellowed gracefully, time has been kind, it was wonderful to memorise on our lives a long time ago.
We have Lassie travelling in the right direction, CADDILAC was gobsmacked by it all and left early, John, Bert and Lassie were still downing the liquid and waxing lyrical when I had to leave some hours later.
Long live the OFFS.

I now have some sixteen golfers who would like to play in the 2014 Tourney----that leaves just four places left.
Need you all to confirm your intentions by sending the entry fee of $50 per person to Betty Baker the secretary who is handling the cash.
This gives you a shot at the trophy and a bite to eat after.
Should you want to play at one of the swankier clubs and a gourmet banquet after, then a rethink on the entry fee is an absolute surety.
Mark Rathmell better get his arse in gear if he wants to participate.
TIS LATER THAN YOU THINK.
Changed my mind on the trophy------it's a $5,000 sculpture, winners name in gold, annual event, winner holds it for one year, I already got it under way, will post you an early picture, just to whet the appetite.

Runs silent because there's two roller bearings in each wheel on the tyres I cut from some 22mm seal rubber.
Made everything myself, not to scale,I would not know how.
Just one of the things I do to not waste effort and baffle the time thief.

On closer inspection I have found the sculptors initials engraved into the marble base, looks like TJ--- or JT-----definitely japonica and cast bronze.
reckon I could cobble something good enough for the old farts, even though they bubble enthusiasm and willingness in immeasurable minuscule quantities, just once the occasional reply would be nice, but I can't see them dragging their lazy arses away from the TV. If the bloody house was on fire they would still sit there waiting for the next episode of NCIS.

Jackie is 100% correct...I desperately wanted a Merc on the boat, but the motor is similar to the one Bobby and Renato won with on this boat at Parker in 77. I will put a Merc on it if I can find the appropriate cowls...and after the Evinrude inevitably expires. :p

I'm hoping he has some fun reliving his youth while waiting for the OMC to expire. Fun rig - I've driven it twice and it flys! Not sure how he got us confused....I have a southern TN accent. This is the piece for my Swedish friend, combination of stainless, firewood and devious ingenuity ----did a brilliant job of stitching it all together, not a fixing in sight anywhere.
Problem is whether to polish or epoxy it, without a doubt, epoxy brings out all the hidden features, but polish gives it the "touchy Feely" feature.
Big test will come if my friend Runo likes it or not----will keep you in the loop as they say. ONIVAR ----once more into the breach, tomorrow is another day and all that. Have to cogitate a while before I start again, clean up the shop, looks a bit trashcanish right now.

I guess it's about time for me to start talking about OFF2014. I just talked to Odell Lewis for 20 minutes. As always, he said, "If I'm still alive, I will definitley be there!!!". Iris and I will certainly be there as will Jackie Wilson. As you can see from previous postings, Jackie has put a huge effort into building a couple of trophies for the OFF Golf tournament. SO, if you are a golfer, please send $50 registration to Mrs Betty Baker,

In post number 84 I am "freakin screaming" with 1,468 .joined in 2007.
But in number 85 I am a "senior member" with 650 posts? Joined in June 2012?
Hello----is it not beyond the wit of S&F to realize--THERE MAY BE A CONNECTION THERE.? I am not two halves of the whole, there is only one of me ----and has been for over 82 years. And yes! I have been known to change addresses from time to time, but surely an outfit with the nous of S&F are capable of dealing with a simple thing like that? Or maybe not?

You trying to say you got a Burgess mould? But of what? Dave did a lot of different boats, in fact every one of his boats were different. He did many classes of boat ----F1-----F2-----F4- Open cockpit----closed cockpit etc. What is it you got exactly?
Happy to have you at the golf tourney-------will look at the numbers on the day and decide the format, last year it was a scramble and seemed to work ok.

301614Finally decided on the winners trophy-----I won it in Palamos Spain in 1968 so it's coming up towards 50 years old, has been in a tea chest for the last 40 years. Being solid silver it has a wonderful patina due to the fact, it's that long since it was polished.
Will make it the annual Off trophy---winner gets to have his name on it and holds it in custody for one year. The trophy is the property of Off, if Stavros and Burt agree to it.
Its not the trophies so much ,as the freight that costs big bucks----I got a job raising funds to get me " Cattle Class" to Tavares. I got three months to work that one out.
George KRAAGE and Dieter Koenig were both in that particular race, so the pot has history already.

Be fun to put someone inthe back with the Canopys off so they could video :)
Parker, You certainly ought to try. The obvious problem will be getting the APBA staff to approve the hull for use at the vintage event. Currently, the Vintage bylaws don't allow cells and/or canopies. Nemo ran the bat-boat with the canopy removed. The next stumbling block will be the harness. No one should be in a reinforced cockpit or cell without wearing a harness. I'm assuming this will be a judgment made by the referee and inspector at the event. The rescue crews are harness / cell trained.
We will have THREE Switzer wings there and we'd like to have riders in the "other" seat. Another judgement call for the officials.
***** Note: ANYONE riding in a boat MUST attend the driver's meeting the day of the ride (if approved) and have approved driver's clothing (long sleeves, pants, closed toe shoes), life jacket (A100 rated), and helmet. ****** No compromises here.
Exhibition runs are a bit different - not during heats.
My thoughts on the subject - not official by any shake of the stick. Hope to see you there.....with a boat!

Roger My boat has 5 point harnesses, both driver and passenger, I can remove both Canopys , , my boat does not have a roll over switch ? Don't know if that matters? It does have a kill switch, that attaches to me , I have my capsule suit and bell helmet...
just a thought , thought it would be neat but if it raises a bunch of red flags , I won't bring it.

...they say only 20 made...i know of 4-5 of them around the country...but can the ......OFF orginization the guys let me make a lap??? not side by side with reveaus or checkmates or some antique speed boat....unless thats the rules.
so spell out the rules...for an old bayrunner....and I think they might be join the club for 1 meet, , have inspection, have current safety gear like in date racing jacket and who knows what............ all i can offer is just a pass or two to see look listen and enjoy that old damn donzi....no its not. a donzi.......its a magnum marauder v bottom not the tunnell missle... that has hurt some people .
no golf just for the day in the pits and at the ramp.... nothing crazy just a cool old boat stretching it out..and hanging out with my aged speedssters....boat and personna
not gonna come if i cant run!!!!.
joel
Rich should i bring my 2seater to run with you guys on Saturday???
Not sure...need helmets and jackets...and no canopy boats allowed yet in Vintage....

Parker, You don't need a roll-over...just the kill switch. The only other problem is that ALL classes of Vintage require a A100 rated life jacket. The true capsule jacket does not have the ballistic material like the A100 because it is to be used in a cell.
I certainly don't mind you testing the waters with this boat. Vintage needs to address this sooner or later. I've been pushing for updates for the outboards for over two years now. I'd like to see you bring the boat and be ready to display it if they won't approve it for in water use. We can always find a A100 jacket for you to use. Just remember..this is not a race...it is more about running together, having fun, and putting on a good show....safely
Let me know what you think , thanks

Like I said before Johno, bring him along
Now a lot of the old fart golfers have said they want to play but as of today the only two people who have actually PAID are Rich and Doreen Luhrs. Here is the list of people I KNOW
WHO ARE COMING ALONG.
RICH AND DORREN LUHRS
BILL AND BETTY BAKER
JACK WILSON AND BILL SEEBOLD
CRAIG WILSON AND SAM CAPLIN
CLIVE CAPLIN AND GARY STRAY
BERT SERRA. Referee
Need to know how many players want to hire clubs, limited Supply.
there is room for ten more players
Play starts at 10 am. Normal time is 4/5 hours.
3/3.30 proceed to Bill and Betty Bakers for Barbie and drinkie poo's, eat around 5/6.
7;/9 depart for Tavares and welcome old friends.
Believe it or not, a golf tourney takes a lot of effort by a shed load of people, nobody gets paid, most of us will end up poorer but richly rewarded with the effort.
The club need to know numbers so they can reserve the course.
We need the people who intend to play to step up to the plate------folk like The Preacher man, Bacos, Rathmell, in fact, if this concerns YOU, get in touch, please.!!!

Well, that went down like a fart in a spacesuit,
Bill Baker reckons some of the old farts will never make a 10am start so has decided to have a 12 noon start so we can have a late breakfast, a leisurely round of golf, finish around four, mosey over to the Bakers pad, a few bevvies, and big eats around 6. How does that sound ?

As usual ----the old farts remained silent.
Even Seebold and Seeroy have been trying, but to no avail, no joy from Rathmell, MR fun , preacher man, have catered for Bakos, the total at the moment is fourteen -----seven pairings------that's a nice round number and should be a lot of laughs.
All we ever wanted was a commitment, but it seems even that is too much to ask of the old farts.
Many thanks to those of you who already said you will be there. J.

Spent the the weekend revamping the offshore concept rig, stripped all the wax polish off it, then three coats of varnish, added a breakaway cockpit, trying to get it to Tavares but it's going to be horrendously expensive so don't hold your breath.

Sir Jackie, If you can gather enough participants come hell or high water, I will support you. on the other hand, if some of us Patriots are having a struggle along about these days, I can cerntally understand and at a cost of an extra 200.00 dollars minus the amount of revenue from not being productive financially that day, I'm having a tough time feeling "gung ho" as to the cost. I'm sorry to have to expose myself in this way, but it is the reality in this Economy. I'll be watching, and if we can get a good group together, I'll be there, otherwise I will simply be a "Volunteer" helping this Wonderful Group of People Promoting a connection to the past. with regrets, fun out

Bloody hell fire pilgrim-----and they say I waffle-----read your eloquent draft through three times, concluded you may , or may not appear, where's the other $150-00 expenditure going?
Golf, cart, goodie bag, t shirt, steaks are all of $50, good company comes with the package.
Now it's a strange fact of life that while we are out striving to whack the snot of' a little white ball we are no longer generating income-----fortunately we are all in the same boat, I am a bit further down the road to malnutrition than most but do try to keep a stiff upper lip and suffer the consequences lightly.
Still look forward to your company on the 13th November ----one round with the old farts and I can promise you, life will never be quite the same again.!

just as a side note, Will there be a Bikini contest?

Tell you what Pilgrim, you bring yours and I'll bring mine, it only takes two for a contest.
We must get together and tell me about your "NORM"-------I once had a kid brother "GEOFF"------,does that count?
If you were smart like wot I am------you would make a friend up in the Tavares neck of the woods, get him to pick you up from the airport------,stay with him for free------drink his whiskey etc, saves quite a bit. What's the point of growing old if you don't grow smart!

thank you for the kind thoughts. all I have in this world is talent. not to think on my part that I'm anywhere near done. haven't hit a ball in 20 yrs, as I haven't ridden a slaum ski in as many years, but I know I can still do it.

Can hear old Willabee's cogs whizzin round------don't believe all is lost just yet, he could enter the room, you just got to work a little harder Rich, he would never ever take my advice. You'd better take over.
If anyone wants a bit of Cowes - Torquay memorabilia , you can find a Wills trophy shield for around 10 dollars on E-Bay UK .
Struggling a bit to fit the trophies in a suitcase, can just feel a "KATOSTRAFFY"about to occur, got visions of Border Control blowing the whole lot to bits which would piss me off right royally.
Went to my son in laws 57th birthday Bar-B this afternoon, got to see a couple of my grand kids and POLLY my youngest great grandchild-----his old dad is not doing right well, stopped driving, don't do gardening any more and trundles with a couple of walking sticks, poor bugger is only just gone 80-------no real age at all.

Good morning Stavros, does it get any better than that?---two weeks funning in the smoky mountains with your best girl in the fall---hells teeth, even I couldn't write a better script than that.
Pleased to see your getting the full use out of the 86,400 secs each day that God gave you, I'll try and keep up with you. Say hi to Iris and look forward to seeing you both in Tavares two weeks on Wednesday--------life's just one big vacation when you stay on the HELTER skelter.

Two weeks and two days----even the most dour of the old farts must be getting just a tad tingly at the thought of all the lies and long tales about to be told in Tavares ------I shall invent something no doubt and my friends will try to top the tale.

Yeah Well, forgive me if I don't hold my breath Pilgrim, the old farts have been promising to do just that for what seems like a lifetime. Bit like the road to hell y'know, paved with the very best of good intentions but the rents supposed to be paid on a Thursday and the landlord is a right old bastard.
does sound like your princess and my youngest have got common groun, so no more promises, let the actions speak for themselves and I'll meet up with you and we can shake extended paws before the conflict begins.

OFF IS ON!!!!!!!!
Please tell all the OFFers that the event that was cancelled by CRA is the Inboard race (Non Vintage) that was scheduled for next May, 2015. This was a brand new event that Bill was trying to promote and has nothing to do with OFF or any of the normally scheduled CRA Vintage events. The use of the word "Thunder" in the title of the event may have been ill advised given the fact that the Vintage events also use that name. There has been some confusion and I have answered a few phone calls about this. But have no fear.... OFF is definitely on!
that gave me such a good feeling I did my whole shot  cheers :D
