Hi all,
First post but long time reader.
I'm running a Checkmate Enchanter pad bottom 20 footer with a very healthy 2.4. My guess is in the 230-240Hp range. 14 inches of setback. Drilled, vented, jetted, no Boxes and good Psi numbers. Boat rigged with fuel ready to run is just shy of 1400# Early Enchanters were 1400 for the hull alone. It is a very light "race edition" no gelcoat inside, special sparse and light fitout, no plywood or foam. great boat. I'm 180, wife is 120. Kid is 150.
Currently running a 24 Chopper and ~6600 3 inches below the pad (too Deep) at right around 70GPS alone 67 with passenger and 57 with 4 a full tank, huge cooler, and towels extra clothes etc.
I'm running deep to keep RPM's down, and have not installed a LWP yet.
Spring is around the corner and my plan is to install a Bob's LWP(5 hole) and raise away! Boat runs best with almost no trim, so cone is not an issue. rooster is shorter than top of cowl.
Based on the 24 needing to be held back I am going to go to a 26 but am having a hard time deciding on which style prop to run. 80% throttle and up performance is my goal.
The boat is usually 1 or 2 up, and spends it's life at 4k-WOT. I have a different prop if I ever want to do cruising or watersports.
Thanks for the input cheers,
Rex II

Up Top.
I'm surprised with all the knowledge here no one has compared these two props on a fairly light pad bottom.
The Pro ET is a big hunk of change. Was curious to know how much less lift, and how much the four blade was going to eat into my RPM.
Was hoping the ET 4 blade would give me chopper like ride but with better load carrying ability than the Chopper.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I would not buy the pro et they like to though blades a chopper 2 would be a good prop to run

I have a similar setup enchanter that I was trying to make fast best a ever seen was 68 with a 25p trophy, then I realized I was wasting time/money and bought a tunnel, from what I have read the lwp will not help you cause the drag of the lower unit helps get the heavy hull out of the water, if you are set on making this boat faster I would try transom water pickups and raise away, that was my next move.

Thanks for the opinions, My current Prop is a stretched 24 labbed Chopper 2. My thoughts on the LWP are that if I can run level with the pad, and have neutral trim the Bob's won't hurt that much and I don't have to deal with the Transom mount.
Additionally, I was planning to lab the Bottom, as I need to do some Transom work to deal with the big setback and will be getting sticky anyway.
In the end i will go to a faster Hull, but 3 in college and one in private HS who is a national level hockey player, I have to be happy with the Mate. For Now! Motion, Skater, MTI those are sexxxy words.

The big setback you are running May help keep your boat out of the water but from what I have read the lwpu does not help unless you are running above 80 with a mate, curious to see your results keep me posted and good luck.

Welcome Rex II,
I will try to give you an answer and be brief.
A chopper and a Pro Et are apples and oranges. You are running a 2.4 which makes power up top and weak low end torque. A chopper is a 3 blade bow lifter while a Pro Et is a 4 blade 'total' lifter with a lot of stern lift, made for surface Piercing and fly straighter but will be harder to turn. I think you are running well already with your power and I would stay with a chopper style for best results. I used to run a 21' superboat w/ 2.4 200 and the best prop for speed and hole shot was a 24 chopper that would break-over and then grip harder after I started to plane off ,then reduce slip as speeds rose. Too much bite from a Pro et would only hurt your bottom and top. If you want better speeds I think I would try possibly a HOSS triton 3 blade. Your motor running lower is also helping to give more lift then a Coned could give. Up to 80-85 I would just close off intake holes as you run higher. JMO

Dnelson964,
That Is exactly the info I needed. I Think I'll start by having my 24 Chopper Stretched to a 25. and block off all but the bottom two holes, Jack her up to an inch below the pad and see how she flys.
Thanks everyone. I'll post up some results..... As soon as my lake thaws!
Cheers,
Rex II

I have a real good sale going on right now Performance Propellers version of the ET, Chopper, and Yamaha drag props. They have been faster on my boat than the equivalent Merc and Yamaha props. The ET version is a 15" diameter compared to Merc at 14.5". That may help carry your boat a little better and/or allow you to raise the motor higher. Most importantly though, they are not known to sling blades!
I dont want to sound to spammy but I worked this pricing out with Tim from Performance Propellers specifically for ScreamandFly members so I want it out there for you guys to take advantage of. You can get a new ET for $625 and I dont think youll find a good used Merc ET for that. I have over $900 in my almost new 30 Merc ET....and Ill sell it.
Link to props is in my signature if you want to take a look.
