classic boat races lake Dora Jan 18th.

I did this run a few months ago. A lot of fun.
If weather allows ill be going again on Jan 18th Saturday.
Put in at lake harris south ramp off of 19.
Run to north end thru canal to eustis then thru dora
canal to watch the races and check out all the cool
old race boats. There is parking on the grass/beach for
boats on the east side of the park.
Lets kick off the new year with a get together.
Boat ramp has tons of parking and nice ramps.

That was the first place I took Drag"N"Fever too and entered it into the classic runabout division and got to run around the one mile course with the runabout group. It was a lot of fun! I am going to try and go again this year, weather permitting! They actually had a "Best Rooter Tail" award. That was right up my alley.

This is actually in Taveris , at Wootin Park , on Lake Dora .
I'm not sure there is an Inn there .
Sounds like you are on the other end of the lake , in Mt. Dora .
Same lake , but you will need to get over to the site .

Good Deal Fun , I just didn't remember there being an Inn at the site . But that are is growing so fast , there is no telling what has changed . I'm just hoping the little Tiki Bar , with the Sand Floor , is still there !

The Inn is across the RR tracks from the marina but if your on the upper floor with a good lens you should be able to get some good video. I will have the camper over in the camping area to the west of the ramp on the lake side.

I just got off the phone with Rodger, who lives at the Hotel, he assures me that they have tankless hot water in every room,and he likes to take HOT showers :cheers: so poo poo on that rumor. He also said they have about 5 resturants waterfront on the property or within walking distance. coming from a city of aprox. 1.5 million people I'm looking foreward to chillin in a cool place with a bunch of real raceboats to admire. fun out :iagree:

I have stayed at the Inn several times and always had hot water but if you think you will see the races from there you will be dissapointed. They are about 4 miles away and with a curvature of the shore line you can't even see that side of the lake from the Inn.

Race course will not change as the stands and all are right there.
They close down the entire boat ramp and parking lot for the crane
and race boats. All good.

Yes the races are not at Mount Dora...They are at Tavares.....

Lakeview inn, awesome. plenty of hot water, brand new construction, spotless. plenty of resturants, kind of a mini key west-New Orleans feel. met the President of the Club, awesome embrace from the community, they are hungry for boat races :iagree:, seriously, the town really wants to help with the events. the turn out was small, but they assure the March event will be BIG! good for now, fun out
