I understand fiberglass on the back side and front side, but what kind of filler around the wood circles I insert in the hole

Chopped glass mixed with resin. Tape wax paper on the back side so it stays put can do the same on the ft.

This is my favorite polyester based stuff. Sands nice. Cures quick. Very strong. Spray gel right over top.

There are many good epoxy putties like marine tex, I personally like Super Bond from Fiberglass Coatings. Kind of hard to sand, but bulletproof...

I've used epoxy mixed with baby talcum powder. Sands pretty good and strong. (rc boat use)

Have used both MarineTex and epoxy resin mixed with wood flour.
