This one ran 101 mph on GPS with a stock 300X. It consistently ran 99 mph every day.

Thanks for the replies fellas!!!
Banjo that is the pic I spent 2 and a half hour last night looking for!!!
Greg thanks for the e-mail that is a beutiful boat! I need to tell you a storie... well first I should tell you that my wife loves to bust my balls!!! But when i showed her your e-mail this morning the first thing out of her mouth was (joking) O he must work for progression!!! LOL:D But after she got done messin with me she did say she likes the boat! She is one of those that cant imagine paint etc. she has to see it! So thanks for the picks that was exactly what she (I) needed!!!

Greg I do have a question! Do you have any good pics of the race hatch that makes the boat a two seater?? I was thinking I could run that and make a sun pad that fastened to it some how. That way when were stoped the wife can go back there and lay out. And when I wana go rippin around we can un hook it and put it under that hatch. What do ya think? is the hatch built for this?

Thanks again, Chris

Edit- If anyone else has pics of these beutiful boats post em up!! We all love eye candy!!!!

Here's one... I have another somewhere; I'll look for it. You can have them open both ways - split in half, or one piece, like the picture. They can easily support the weight of two people.

Can you tell that I like their boats?

Greg:)

He went on to tell me about the open house this weekend I wish I would have known a little sooner I would LOVE to go check em out!! I cant wait for the pricing and options info to get here, then we'll see If I can get the ball rollin on a new project:D

Thanks for the pics and all the help Greg! With any luck I can buy ya beer when I come up to check out the boats!! (With the wifes permission ofcourse) LOL I need to work on loosning the purse strings if ya know what I mean!!!

...is one of my top 5 favorite boats. Nothing compares to it in its class for performance and outstanding workmanship.

100 mph with 300X...that is impressive!!

NICE BOATS guys!!

CJ

I have to agree Anthony!! A boat you can hang a 225 on and run in the 70-80 range, pounds through the ruff stuff and looks good doing it!! Sound to good to be true!! Dont get me wrong I love my STV and wouldnt get rid of it for anything!! But the wife says she getting tired of looking at the back of my head (center steer) and Im tired of getting the **** beat out of me on the busy weekends! SO...... This look like a nice compromise. I guess I could always sell the stv and put a 300x on the 22footer but I just have to much fun in that damn thing!! I LOVE the looks on peoples faces when ya fire that thing up Its great!!

AAAAAHHHHH WHEN IS SPRING GOING TO GET HERE ?????
I HATE WINTER THIS SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same thoughts going from a Hydrostream. When I did it, I regretted it. V hulls that are 20 to 30 mph slower just aren't the same when you come out of a tunnel. At first you're happy that you can go in bigger water, but then you want your 20 mphs back. Gotta buy a big cat!

CJ,

I could be wrong, but I think $33,800 is the list price for that boat. You should call them and double check.

Yup your right greg! I just got a e-mail from Kevin! List price is 33,789. Asking price is less ofcourse! Also I would like to clarify that in no has the guys at progression boats been anything but profsional! What i said above was just my opinion. Sorry for any confusion. I got my wires crossed about the pricing!

I have pictures of my boat throughout the building and setup.
Let me know if you need more.
You will most likely be over $50K by the time your boat is in the water with a 300x. (gotta love boats) I rigged mine myself

Mike, Love the boat! Id love to see the build up and rigging of your ride! I to will rig my boat (did my last 2) I even asked for pricing on just a bare hull and interior. So Id really like to see any rigging tricks or tips you used on yours. How do you like the big 300 on there? Dose the boat handle the weight well? Please, If you have the time post some pics of the build up of e-mail them to me Johnson@inter-linc.net and Ill post them up here! We all like the eye candy!!:D

I rigged the boat watertight with stainless (s316) fittings and hoses.

Helm-
I opted not to use the smart craft guages because I think that they look like hell. However, I keep the harness and guage in my tool box in case I need to read an error code.

I really like this boat. It is dynamite in rough water. (It is actually a bit of a handful if there is no chop) Like anything, it will take some seat time to get comfortable with the hull.

The 300x is a great motor on this hull. I may try some setback. I have never seen 100mph with the boat, but I've heard it can be done. Low 90s are more realistic with a couple of people and a cooler etc.

If you need any other info let me know!

CJ
02-06-2003, 07:24 PM
MIKE !!! Thank You!! I love the stainless fittings and simple dash layout!! Im one of those people that think less is more!! If you dont mine me asking what steering set up is thatand how much dose somthing like that run? Did you install it yourself?

I wonder if theres a reason for it?:)

The Steering is from Latham Marine. I had Kevin install the helm pump (Capilano) and I did the rest when I hung the motor. I don't remember for sure, but I think that the pump, ram, hoses, fittings, and steering plate were about $3,500.

I like the Capilano pump because it has a variable ratio valving system that allows you to adjust the number of turns lock to lock.

Hey I like it!! 24 footer right? Ditch the handrail around the back and that would be a real good lookin boat! I had kevin send me info on the 24foot as well! Anyone tell me how big a differance there is in the ride between the 22 and the 24??

CJ

Scream And Fly

Actually, the boat in the photo is a 1988 model. It ran a best of 79.9 mph. at100plus and jerry are at it again, but I think it's all in fun (I hope;) )

In my experience, both the 22 and 24 handle very well in the rough stuff. The 24 will have an advantage in the severe stuff though, due to its longer bottom. It also has the cuddy walk-down option, which I like a lot. The one in the photo does not have that option.

Dang that was fast!! I know its hard to say but ya think the 22 will do fine in 2-3 footers?? cuz if it gets any deeper than that me and aquaholic will be sitin in the dock drinkin some cold beverages:D I woulnt worry about jerry none he just likes to stir the pot:D :D

The 22 will have no problem in 2-3 footers - it's an awesome boat.

Thanks for the all you input greg! Its hard to get a grasp of boat of that size running through that kind of slop. But then at 19ft the stv is the biggest boat Ive owned. Not to say i havent been in bigger, even in my father in laws 22ft cobalt you get the crap beat out of ya in 2 ft stuff. I guess its all in the V

Jerry was going to crack on your van and your trailer wheels, but I didn't want to upset you since you are a fellow Pro Max 300 owner.;) Besides, I heard you got a new tow vehicle.

The V on a 22 is deeper than hell. It really likes the rough water. A 24 must feel like a Lincoln.

By the way, I'm not really into tunnels (although most of the guys that I run with are)

If I were going to buy one, it would be a 28 Skater with two of the nastiest 300s known to man hanging on the transom.

Banjo's 21 is one hell of a ride.

It's Joe L's boat - it's fast too, but I can just look at how cool it is and not care about how fast it is. I like the colors on it. He ran this boat in the Hot Toddy run last year.

Here is one of this year's new Scream And Fly test boats. It's another Progression, but this one is a 1991 22 with a 1998 Merc 250.

I'm going to expand on the 3-liter features a little with this boat (and the 24LD we use as well) by starting off with installing Wayne Taylor's reed cages and reeds into this 250. We're also going to install his tuner into this motor as well. There will be more to come, so this will be an interesting test series for this project. I'll detail the installation as well, so it might be useful for people wanting to do this themselves.

That looks like the boat that was at Joey Imprescia's shop when I picked up my motor. Can't wait to see the tests.

That Skater is beautiful. I would be nervous lifting it with those transom brackets though. I know they must be thru-bolted and are plenty strong, just don't look up to the task. I would also want a safety on those J hooks.

Nice way to store a boat. Like the cradle on the gravel pad.

Very sweet paint job. God, gotta get one of those one day.

Hi everyone. Interesting thread. Sorry I'm so late jumping in but I have been under the weather this week. This is a photo of my friends boat (used to be mine). 1992 22 with a warmed over 200 runs 74+ on GPS. This boat handles the rough like a much larger boat. It will take anything you throw at it and come back for more. I currently have a 24 with 502 MPI (and a Whipple) and yes, it does ride better, at least in part due to the weight of the big block. I have been very happy with both boats and the current owner is happy with his now 11 year old boat. I know he frequently gets asked if his boat is brand new!

Gentlemen,

First of all, I'd like to thank Laster for posting up a picture of my 22 Progression - which used to be his. In answer to your questions, these boats will run comfortably in the 60's in 3 footers here on Lake Ontario. To say that the boat eats up rough water is an understatement! The picture was taken on Seneca Lake in anything but flat conditions and we went by the radar gun at 74 just a moment after the picture was snapped. Not bad for an 11 year old boat!

As for the 24 Progression, yes it rides like a Lincoln in the rough stuff. Laster is running in the upper 80's with a Whipple Charged 502 that he really hasn't fully sorted out. (You know what that means!) If you want something that flies and handles rough water, try a Progression!
